This feels like a really good
beta for a map, but it doesn't quite feel
finished, you know? I quite like the new Quarren and Kit Fisto models and you've done a great job with the underwater feel, but there are a few issues that need tweaking:
-The rifles for both the republic and CIS are missing an award weapon, so the game freezes when you try to switch weapons. This can be fixed by either adding an award weapon or changing the rifle odf in the common folder (so that it doesn't have an award.)
-It takes a really long time to get from place to place. Jetpacks or vehicles might alleviate this problem (EraOfDesann has some really good ideas for vehicles.) The jetpacks, I think, would be ideal--is there a bubble effect out there somewhere that you could use to replace the fire effect?
-The pathways need some sort of scenery to keep them from feeling bland. Perhaps retexture some of the Felucia plants and stick them here and there, and sprinkle some rocks along the path.
-The Vader jump animations for the heroes is a really good idea--in fact, if all of the units had that jump animation, it might be pretty cool.
-As with all maps, it would be greatly improved if it had a minimap--you can find a tutorial for how to make one
here.
Great map, but it needs a little touching up here and there. Keep working on it, though--it has the potential to become a
really great map!

A few things I strongly agree with. Things I strongly advise are in orange.
[GT]EraOfDesann wrote:-One thing I liked about Astute's Kamino map was that the units had jetpacks to help them get across the map faster. I think jetpacks would really add a lot to your map and solve the distance problem that people are complaining about. Personally, I didn't think the distance was that bad because, as you said, the long range weapons even that out. However it can take some time to get to a CP to take it so this is why I highly recommend the jetpacks. For the droids you could simply allow them to jump higher and farther than normal.
-For the CIS, you could give them Spider Droids (apparently those work underwater) and Dwarf Spider Droids. This would make the rocket troopers more useful. You could give the Republic a lot of those bikes to balance things out or give the clone rocket trooper improved weapons.
-Ask Astute if he has his health and ammo rechargers from his Kamino map. It sucks when you run out of ammo and don't have anything to use against the enemy.
-Some lights would be nice because it's hard to see in some areas and I think it'd really add to the ambience.
-The quarrens would be cooler if they had Vader's "jump" animation and could float in the air for a period of time, just to add a bit of realism to the map.
-The map is a little simplistic, I think it could use a lot more detail. I'd add boulders, rocks, foilage (or some sort of sea-plants), crates, retextured Bespin tanks, and perhaps retexture the Geonosis spires and add'm in there too. Whatever fits and makes the map more elaborate.

There's something about the lasers that make them really realistic. What did you do to them? Did you increase the Alpha glow or did you just widen it?
The only bug I noticed is that the Quarren kneel like the hero does when hes defeated.

Well, I did want the Quarren to be a team of heroes in a sense. As for the lights, how would I go about doing that? The lights that you put in the editor scatter the light so much, you can't concentrate it enough to make it look like it is coming from a lamp. Any information on how to do this would be helpful. As for the vader animations, the problem is that vader is really tall, so when you have characters with vader animations, their bodies are stretched out abnormally.

Are you sure about the floating thing, though? Majin was able to get Geonosians to use Vader's jumping animations whenever they flew with force pikes.

i have waited a long time for this, thank you so much!
you have my gratitude.
and by the way, dont say you are bad at making maps, who else made an underwater map for BF2anyway, i bet an underwater map is nice. also, i think the next version should be 1.0 as this is a public beta

Hey Galactic_Marine cheer up! You have been succesful in making an underwater map. Not like some guy in the FF forums who said he wanted to make a map like this 100% like the cartoon and dissapears 2 months later.
Anyways, I haven't download the map yet as my internet connection is very slow for some strange reason but take your time improving this map and I'm sure it will be better. People who don't like this map can chew on my shoes!

. that applies to other filefront maps to like 607th mappack 2. i cant download that to

What I really wanted was a hunt mode of Kit Fisto and an army of Nautolans v.s the Quareens. For the Nautolans you could just reskin Kit Fisto alittle and give them a sonic blaster and a bubble rocket lanchers. You can find more information on them here

Sorry, but I want this map to remain as canonical as possible (is that a word?) and Nautolans aren't from Mon Calamari.

Okay, I created a lamp for lighting up the area. Here is a picture:
I made it in XSI Mod Tool, so I need somebody with the full version to export it into msh format. Here is a folder with the textures and dotxsi. Simply extract to Local C and export the dotxsi:

Why have the droids imperial blasters and republic sounds? You should use higher unitcounts.

jus played the map, u really need more units.
review:
-i remember in the WIP topic that you mentioned adding geonosian turrets painted dark blue and firing sonic. why dont you put that in?
-why do the troopers shoot big lasers? and also an idea: give the troopers a bigger rifle barrel (enlargen on all axes) with a thick energy beam. that was how canonical (yes, it may not be a real word but it is used very often) it was. dunno what the droids will have though.
-if you cant add more units, reduce the size of the map. or revert to the kamino version.
-nice lamps! give them green light effects.
other ideas and bugs have been mentioned. now to play it some more

Nah, I don't think reverting it to the kamino version is a smart idea. I tried out your thrown away version 1 that you send me through Xfire and I'd prefer this one than that one. The green lights surroundding the platforms is good, so I think you can put some at the walls of this version.
Edit: Is beta testers added to the credits?

Well, this map is closer to underwater than anything I've ever seen. Here are a few suggestions...
-Make all the Lasers/ Projectiles move much much slower
-Retexture the trident, and Quarren, and probly add some more detail on Fisto and the Quarren (Fistos head is good but the body seems a little too flat and circular)
-If you can, Make the units able to jump very high, but very slowly.
-Reskin the CIS droids (I'll help if you want)
-Maybe Add vehicles (Slow moving Flyers will look like submarines)
Other than that, this map is awsome dude!

My main complaint is that it is much to slow with getting around the map. Snork's suggestion with the submarines as flyers would be interesting, but remember to keep it canon.
Make the Kit Fisto more buffed up.
Give at least one unit per side jetpacks, with the jetpack flame retextured to look like bubbles.

Yeah I agree with that one. I kinda think you should give all units force float like Vader and I have

Okay, so I definitely roughed up the terrain...a lot. I also added special units and snipers. I increased unit counts, made the units faster, made the map smaller, and gave the scuba troopers jetpacks. Hopefully, by the end of today, I will have underwater speeders and geonosian turrets. But right now, I need somebody with XSI Foundation to export that lamp model.

Sounds great! I can't wait to see what the map looks like now.
