Space Coruscant (Battle over Coruscant)

This is the official announcement for my map that I've been working on for quite a while.
It's the Battle over Coruscant, in all it's glory!

This post, after being haphazardly put together, has finally been reorganized (into the first Galactic Empire! [cheers] -Palpatine, in the Senate, EP III).

Details:
-Made as canon as possible, within the limits of the game, yet fun and challenging
-Features unique placement of stuff
-Accurate map, paid attention to capital ship placement
-Also a place for non-spacers to feel at-home, with a "ground" battle (WILL NOT BE REVEALED until beta testing or final release, please read below)
-Unique interiors for an Acclamator, Invisible Hand, and a Venator Star Destroyer
-Hangar placed in Lucrehulk, now two-way!
-Hangar placed in Acclamator, also one-way only
-Autoturret defenses in each two-way hangars
-Large battle area, lots of autoturrets and capital ship cannons
-Starship systems juggled around and are better protected in some cases
-Custom sides and vehicles for both Republic and Separatists
-I'm hoping this map will be fun to play as well as true to Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. :vader2:

Other Info
Well, although it's as canon as possible, it's still supposed to be fun. If there's one thing that makes it stand out, it's actually tough to play, but not impossible. You usually get shot down before you get to Invisible Hand, but if you fly well (almost Jedi-like) you can survive and reach the General's infamous ship. Also, being a pilot is no walk in the park either, which you learn when fighting numerous ships while under heavy fire.

I am working pretty hard on this map to get it to the level of quality that closely resembles the movie as much as possible, yet out the door as fast as possible. If you have suggestions to add to the map, feel free to post a reply on this thread (no PM for this, please).

This is what I'm working on, and will (should) be in the map when it's all done:
-Specific Jedi Starfighters (Anakin, Obi-Wan, generic blue) (working out finer details)
-Turrets that do less damage, but are more "flashy"
-Accuracy AMAP (as much as possible)
-I tried to make the movie cutscene work, but it got REALLY temperamental, so I removed it.
-Custom ambient music + a little treat

oh man that looks intense, how powerful are the hanger autoturrets? they look like they can kill the enemy and cause collateral damage lol

Wow! I've always wanted a true Space Coruscant, and man, this is like a dream come true! I truly can't wait! :thumbs:

Just a quick question, will you be including Grievous (You can use the CIS Bomber as his ship, it's actually is the same ship he had in the movie, but he never used it.....) or Dooku in the map? Heres another idea, I'm guessing this would be too hard, but it'd be cool to have the bridge of the Invisible Hand and the room where Obi-wan and Anakin duel Dooku! Well, anything that isn't the stock interior would be an improvement..... :wink:

Looks good. But why, oh why is there an imperial floor on a droid ship?

I like your idea of keeping to the movies. Good work. Have you:

-made 3 seated ARCs?
-improved starfighter speed?
-decreased missiles and added laser power?
-changed the lasers to be more canon like?

@TML: Yes, I hope to use Grievous and Dooku as playable characters. Hopefully with a point restriction too (so it's not too easy ;) ). Unfortunately, due to two problems (unable to add nonstock objects other than space and I don't know how to use Softimage, plus the exporter doesn't install), I can't include nonstock objects, as much as I want to. However I'll try to retexture some objects to resemble the movie objects.

@MrCrayon:
0.5) The Imp hangar in the CIS roundship is there simply because it's the most generic hangar available. The Rep, Reb hangars are too distinct and shaped differently, and the Separatist hangar is too long to fit in there. The imp hanger is generic and bright, offsetting the outside. In other words, it's the best choice.
1) 3-seat ARC-170: Yes, I'll use the one available at FileFront.
2) Starfighter speed: Why, too fast? Don't worry, any slower and it'll be very difficult to survive. I will, however, increase ARC-170, CIS bomber, and LAAT speeds and tweak turning radiuses if possible.
3) Laser Power: Yep, I'll look to Wookiepedia for canon ideas. Or, if you have some ideas, tell me and I'll put it in if I can implement it. (Jedi starfighter with missile flurry? Yeeech!)
4) Canon Lasers: Definitely, yes. Also, turrets' lasers will get better looks as well as flying craft's lasers/secondary weapons.

@Fiodis: The capital ships (mostly) are looking at each other, CIS facing north and Republic facing south. Mostly. (some CIS ships, as well as the Jedi Acclamator, are facing turned sideways or diagonally)

Thanks everyone who posted for showing interest in my first mod only hours after it was announced. It feels good when four months of work, even half done, have paid off in the satisfaction that people are happy with what you've done. Again, thanks, and if anyone has more to ask/comment, please feel free to do so. I'm usually on once a day, and will respond back soon.

There is a Lucrehulk core ship with hangars. Acemastermind made two.

Yes but the player still needs a hanger. And it would be too easy to kill the Vultures when they spawn in before they take off (assuming that their autopiloted.)

This maps looks very nice. Keep up the good work!

Is it possible to shoot in the Hanger??(with the ships)
Are the big ships like Venator, lucrehulk, Invisible Hand etc moving while the battle??

It looks nice, there is another very good map set at the same battle, but yours might look even better than that one (and that one was great)

The map looks pretty good so far. Stock ships were a good choice - a lot of people seem to be obsessed with accurately-sized ships, but having loads of 1 kilometer-long (or longer) ships in a map is really impractical. I'd recommend rotating some of the ships a bit more, if only for variety, but you're off to a good start.

"The other map" . . . isn't that Battle of Coruscant, with lots of flashy turrets, Jedi and Sith, and a red starfighter?
If that's the one, I have that mod on my BFII. It's okay, creative and inventive yet it lacks excitement from the movie.

Update!
-Jedi and Sith are going to be added! I'm testing them now.
-Obi-Wan's red Eta-2 Actis starfighter is in the making, with a generic blue and Mace Windu's (non-canon) purple starfighter following it.
-Clones will be retextured and colours changed. Enough of the blue, not every legion is 501st! The question is, what colour?
-a few tweaks

I say just standard white, you see white clones operating a canon during the battle, and those are the only clones (other than pilots) you see. :wink:

Wow i looks amazing.

but, if you want a ,,realistic,, EP3 Battle then i say dont use the stock models of the venator, munificent, recusant.
Dragonum make some unbelievable movie accurate Ships.
It is just a Tip but think about it.

i will follow this map!^^

Update:
-Jedi (and Sith) added! Thanks to Xavious, he (or she) helped pinpoint the problem with Jedi in the map. New photos will be posted soon.
-Purple Mace Windu starfighter will not be made (noncanon). Sorry!
-Map objects reworked for accuracy, frigates under fire have been enhanced with the shield ability (capship shields now on certain ships)
-Bug discovered: Jedi (non-famous) cannot enter vehicles :( I'll try to fix this. Also, those Jedi are easy to kill.
-extended interiors made, just for fun. Note the new deployment of ARC-170s in the photo that is going to be posted (I'm on my iPod Touch).
-Oh, and off-topic: PREDATORS was great! Any fan of the original movie(s) will enjoy this one!
