Re: SWBFII Basic Modding tutorial
I would rephrase that "n00b" part to "newbie".
A n00b is someone who does stupid/annoying stuff to get attention and doesn't want to work.
A newbie is, simply put, someone who is new to something.

Re: SWBFII Basic Modding tutorial
Totally inappropriate dude. The reason we say that is so that people will become self-sufficient (as you stated it) and not dependent on other modders. The reason I’m writing this tutorial is to help the n00bs that want to learn how to Mod units & weapons. I was there once and I know how that is. Especially when you got senior modders, (You know who you are!!!), who not only refuse to help you, but are also jerks about when you request for a unit to be made and tell you to shut up!!!
On top of that, its annoying. Teaching a noob how to mod is time consuming -- time that could be used for making mod maps of our own.
That's why we don't help.
Other than that, this looks like a pretty good tut just scanning over it.

Re: SWBFII Basic Modding tutorial
And once again, senior modders are people who obviously have no lives and will give 110% support to people who butcher the English language, whenever it's convenient to them, and won't get mad when they're not even mentioned in the credits for all of their help.
In fact, why don't we just make the maps for those people and get it over with?

Re: SWBFII Basic Modding tutorial
This isn't a very good tutorial.
This adds AT LEAST 316 megabytes to the size of your map- You ALWAYS need to create custom sides.Darth Elmo wrote: Step 2. Go into your BF2_ModTools/ assets/ sides directory and you will see multiple folders, e.g. rep (Republic), all (Rebels), imp (Empire), cis (CIS), gar (Naboo Guard, Temple Guard), etc… Copy all of these folders into the BF2_ModTools/ data_ABC/ Sides directory. Now we move on to step three.

I would like to give thanks to those people who did help me when I was a newbie, like $LilJay$ and Fiminopter from filefront gaming forums. Without them my tutorial would not have been possible...

Why do I feel like I'm the only one who got the joke?? It's kind of like a "Modding for Dummies". I'm a n00b (yes a n00b) and I can laugh at myself. I think it all boils down to how well can you laugh at yourself
. You got two extremes, you got n00bs who will not do anything themselves, and you got "no-life-at-all" senior modders who have to reply to everything. So I don't think the introduction was offensive... The tutorial is awsome Darth Elmo, thanks

What's wrong with the modtool docs, if I may ask?

But still, the docs themselves aren't the most user-friendly things in the world. I suppose extra tutorials don't hurt.

Re: SWBFII Basic Modding tutorial
I find the docs a real pain.
