Tean' now you must be the one taking the big step and help us all:
You must collect ALL the stufsf said into one big post :P or small - you decide  in there you'll write what we have, don't have and what's plausible: and whether it work, won't or under 'development'

Lol I can't do it. I'm no modeler. I just was sharing ideas :P

xD

it has nothing to do with modelling; it's YOUR job as the author of this oddly repeatedly topic(ly) :P to make a to-do's, do-not's :P (mm... :D) and plausibilities :)

if not we might as well just delete the whoel topic because we haven't really progressed much since it was made :?

*AHEM* :?

Heh, because you've all been talking in "XSI Talk", I can't really understand, but have you guys figured out if there can be wheeled vehicles(besides the two droid ones)?

We're still discussing it...

Okay, so if I get stuck being the leader of some project like this, here's what I need:

1-A simple wheeled vehicle, the tread of the tire and the sides/rims should all be UV mapped to the same material

2-Someone needs to contact psych0fred and get some shots on how the 9pose is done in XSI.

3-Then the model should be rigged/exported with the 9pose and I will will put an odf together.

Well, I have a gauss warthog model ready in XSI format, no texture though. I could send it to somebody, or I guess I could do it myself, but I'm starting to feel the crunch of school. (6 honors, one sport, theater, junior engineering, plus I'm fasting all day for Ramadan) so I would prefer not to do that.

*Cheers for Tean*

Tean! Tean! He's our man, if he can't do it, Minilogoguy can!! :P

I hope at some point someone attempts it. I'm too busy right now.

Heh, yeah. It'd be real cool, and it would go great in my map :P But that's fine if nobody does it. You just won't get to drive around in cars, running over people  But don't feel pressured or anything :D :D

I showed this thread to Fred, and me made me pretty confused...

Can you tell me again why we actually need the 9pose??

i'm not sure if the last question was a joke or not, but my understanding of it is this. We need the 9pose so that whaen you get in the wheeled vehicle and press the left key for example, the wheels would turn, as it is using the 9pose animation, and the same goes for the right key, making it look like the vehicle is actually using the wheels to turn. For an example of it in action, play hoth and grab a snowspeeder, or mygeeto and get in a rep assault tank (can't remember what it's called). But this is just my understanding, so i'm probably talking garbage.
i also have a question though. With the snowspeeder, when you press the down key, some flaps come up, which is what is slowing the vehicle down and when you release it, the flaps go down. Do you think it would be possible to use the 9pose anim, but with the up key instead of down, to actually animate the wheels turning, by somehow looping the animtion? But i'm guessing we need to learn more about the 9pose anim first though before someone can answer that.

I'm still sortof foggy on how that would apply to wheels though Fred. I thought about aimers, but it didn't seem to solve the problem of the wheels themselves turning in the direction you want to go. I've noticed some vehicles use FinAnimation in conjunction with the 9pose to allow for analog turning.

FinAnimation? Elaborate and/or explain? :P
