Plasma Wampa

I'm trying to make a Plasma Wampa unit. I edited the Wampa's main body texture to look plasma-ish, leaving the face texture unchanged for purposes of experiment. I then proceeded to hex-edit the wampa's MSH to enable double-sided transparency for the edited texture, and also to enable scrolling. In-game, I get a cheerful CTD with the following note attached:
Code: Select all
Message Severity: 3
.\Source\SoldierAnimatorClass.cpp(1881)
Can't find soldier animation wampa_sabre_grab(_upper)
This puzzles me, as everything in the MUNGED folder is straight out-of-the-box. Same for the odfs. All I changed was the texture and MSH, which shouldn't result in an animation error. Any clues?

It's looking for an animation referenced in .combo named wampa_sabre_grab. Wampas don't have this unless you made a custom anim set. I would recommend renaming it wampa_sabre_stand_grab.

The strangness comes when you consider that I added a stock wampa before to a different map, successfully, without the need to compile a custom anim set.
Eh, I'll do as you said, anyway.
Umm....a question. Why "grab"? You don't ever grab anything, unless I'm much mistaken....and in the .combo there's reference to "throwing stuff". Wampas never pick anything up and throw it in-game. Do they?
Another thing: I don't see any "grab" animation in the stock wampa anims. Where can I find it?
EDIT - A search of the wampa's .combo didn't show up anything with the word "grab" in it.

Would try this in three steps, change the texture and get the wampa in game.
Then change the transparency and remunge and finally try the scolling texture.
Yes it is a few steps but it will let you know what is not being liked.*

Actually, I'm in the process of that now; first two were a success. Next up is scrolling, we'll see how that goes over.
