Gamorrean Attack (Canceled)

This is what happens when gamorreans attack...your base. :runaway:

Gameplay
The gameplay is no longer capture and hold cps. Well, it sort of is, but you, being the human player, do not capture any cps unless the gamorreans do. But usually by then it's too late. To sum it all up, you basically survive for as long as you can...
Modes
There are three different modes in this map, easy, medium, and hard. From their names you can probably tell the difficulty of them. To win in all of them, you have to survive for a set amount of time. Easy mode features a normal, bland battle with you and some friendly AI up against a bunch of gamorreans. Nothing too bad. Medium mode features no friendly AI, less time to prepare, and more time to defend. Hard mode, being the hardest, features no friendly AI and some other tricks that might throw you off...

Other Modes
5 minutes - Survive for 5 minutes...just a quick break from whatever.
Another mode...but will not be revealed yet...

Eras
Two eras are included in this map - The Alpha Squad and The Really Cool People(sorry, I have trouble thinkig or era names...tell me if you think of something better). The Alpha Squad is basically elite snipers, smugglers, riflemen and whatnot with pretty nice guns and things that you can hold off the gamorreans with. The Really Cool People, on the other hand, have overpowered everything, meaning huge nukes, unlimited ammo for everything, super jetpacks, etcetera. Basically a "normal" era and a "not so normal" era.
The Really Cool People -
Ganimedes: Ganimedes Personal Teleporter, Ganimedes Personal Teleporter Grenade, Ray Gun.
Bolt: 360 ARC Lightning, Huge Lightningball.
Ub3r Engineer: Camry Spawner, Tri-Shot Shotgun, Construct Mecha Wampa, Pinpoint Laser Cannon, Shield Allies.
Obi-Wan in the Sky: Lightsaber, Force Push, Force Pull.
KA-POW: Gigantazor Nuke Pistol, Mega Orbital Strike.
Megadroid: Wrist Rocket Launcher, Huge Laser, Superfast Mega Wrist Cannon.
Sergeant Boring: Le 3 shot burst gun and le no fun.
Gungan: (See first version)
Alpha Squad -
Alpha Combatant: Melee Weapon, Disguise Kit or Stealth, Build Turret.
Alpha Heavy Weaponsman: Heavy Laser Cannon, Electrical Cannon, Poison Grenade, Orbital Strike, Knockback mines, Plasma mines, Quadra-rocket Launcher.
Alpha Special Ops Trooper: Health Regeneration Buff, Insta-Kill Debuff, Mortar Cannon, Mini-fire Rocket Launcher.
Alpha Nano-Technician: Localized Dimensional Inversion, Volcanic Eruption, Boil Blood.
Alpha Enforcer: Huge Hammer, some sort of buff.

Landscape
Your main cp is in a castle on the top of a mountain with only one way in. Your other two cps are beside and behind it, making them harder to guard. The gamorreans' uncapturable cp is at the bottom of the hill with some mountains behind it. All around this "area" are complete drop-off points - you fall you die. So don't go running off or you will die. The castle features very nice beam cannons and aa non-working drawbridge with a moat around it(this moat does not have water, but it does have death). Behind the castle the land slopes down a bit and has a complete drop-off with a large platform hanging off the edge. There is also an uncharted island somewhere...
Before the Update<Click!
Before the update the map would crash a lot due to the narrow hill that the gamorreans would travel on. This made environment effects impossible, so I redid the landscape completely.

Nice effects and a much better texture for the castle and, wait we have to kill 3000 gamorreans! :faint:

Whoops, I forgot to say that you survive for a set amount of time to win...[/facepalm]

Edited now. :)

More of a shock and awe expression. But yes, the surival gameplay sounds interesting. This looks like it would be very fun in multiplayer.

This is what I am aiming for. Completable in singleplayer with the Alpha Squad(with a bit of luck on hard mode...) and multiplayer. The hard mode will be very fun for multiplayer because of this:

This looks...

But, don't you think that 10 minutes is too long of a time to have to survive for? I mean, some people like melike to play for five minutes, just for a quick break.

That has sparked an idea! :lightbulb: I shall add a new mode called "The Five Min" mode where you just defend for 5 min. :D

BUMP: Well, now that this mod has had an unsolvable crash for months and before it I took a video, I figured I might as well pay one last respect before closing this project.

So I uploaded the video-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfnjQ9x-hn8&feature=youtu.be

This mod is dead. I'd love to continue working on it, but this crash has made me lose heart. Thanks to all who supported it. :D

Oh well. Really cool looking mod you had there.

Big bump! I have somehow solved the crash! Right now, one era works in all modes and the other era works in one mode so I will be working to fix these crashes. At least it works in one mode.

And plus ZE and everything else runs great on Windows 8 so that's good too. I'll have some updated pictures soon.

This looks crazy. I hope you fix these crashes. I look forward to trying this.

Great news! I've gotten my SWBF2 working again and only two of the eight missions are crashing! Once I solve these crashes I will continue to work on everything else, including the sides, scripting edits to improve performance and cause less crashes(since there are a TON of gamorreans), and maybe some more on terrain among other things.

Oh, and as promised, here is a gameplay video of the latest version. Tell me what you think!

wow that looks great  when the mod is released will u still have AI fighting for your side or will you be alone?

In easy mode the AI fight by your side. In all other modes they don't.

I like the turret artillery, I intended to have something similar in my Fortress mod that never went anywhere.

Why that one "push" weapon that flings you in the air though? An edited jump-pack (which the Darktrooper already has set up) would have the same function with less... spinning and twirling.

With less control, also. I would use the darktrooper jetpack BUT it is hard to control while flying through the air so you need to aim it right. Plus spinning while flying is FUN! :D

Not really my kind of fun. But whatever floats your boat.

I tend to agree with both points, the turrets are great. I also would rather see a jettrooper or darktrooper style jetpack, but that's of course up to you.
Re-texturing the mygeeto tower would be very good for the map (in fact, it might look fine if you outright removed it). I enjoyed the sky, and the lighting felt appropriate. What is the full weapons layout of the main unit?
It'd also be cool to have water in the moat (I don't know if there was any from the video, might have missed it).
Overall it looks like it has a lot of potential, with the limited amount of combat we saw.

Can you send me a link to that underhand gun model you were using, I know it was released but I've never been able to find a working link.

Dreadnot9 wrote:Re-texturing the mygeeto tower would be very good for the map (in fact, it might look fine if you outright removed it)
I never thought about this. I could probably replace it with something else to fit the old feeling of the map. I should probably retexture the Mygeeto platform in the back to fit in as well.
Dreadnot9 wrote:I enjoyed the sky, and the lighting felt appropriate.
Very good. I'm glad you're pleased.
Dreadnot9 wrote:What is the full weapons layout of the main unit?
Layout, as in weapons order? It is in the first post but right now things don't match that. His primary weapon is a beam weapon. His secondary weapons are the teleport thing, a grenade that does not do much as of this point in time, and his place turret.
Dreadnot9 wrote:It'd also be cool to have water in the moat
I've been considering putting water in the moat but the reason why is because this mod is already extremely graphics intensive and has a medium to high in-game crashing rate. Though the crashes only happen if you zoom in on the "hoard" or get too close. So perhaps I will try it with water and test stability.

Another video will be up today!

EDIT: Here it is! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0q4IAqwkV3k

This is of the Alpha Squad era. And I think I clicked something on Youtube so it is now going to make the video brighter. Oh well.

EDIT2: I've solved all the crashes! Time to improve stability and work on everything else.

Just popped in to say this looks like it could be lots of fun!

I know you said it's already quite draining on the graphics, but were you planning on making the landscape any more detailed or is this the final appearance in that regard?

Stabilization is finally done! No more crashing! :D
AirspeedRedux wrote:I know you said it's already quite draining on the graphics, but were you planning on making the landscape any more detailed or is this the final appearance in that regard?
It is definitely not the final appearance. In fact, the landscape has changed already since all the pictures and videos above.

Onto news...

- Axe throwing gamorrean! YAY! Don't worry though; their axes won't kill you in one hit
- Gamorreans now spawn constantly along with additional waves with different types of gamorreans for UNLIMITED FUN!!!
- Hills are gone
- Re-textured the Mygeeto platform in the back to be wooden

Stuff that's coming very soon:

- Playable sides update
- Getting rid of that old Mygeeto tower in the center of the castle
- Easter egg implementation
