another disturbing problem :D

okay, so i gave my gamorreans flamethrowers...that's right, flamethrowers

they seem to work fine, so i was just playing a little bit, when i noticed that the flames started appearing more sporadically...sometimes the guy would point the gun at you and your health would go down but no flames would come out

as i played more, soon there were no glow effects whatsoever--lasers worked, but the grenades didn't glow, the flames didn't appear, rockets were invisible, etc.

i restarted the map and everything was fine, except once again, the longer i played, the less effects would appear

lol...is this a very common problem that i don't know about? and if so, how do i solve it...

This happens to me all the time when I play for a long time. It has more to do with the game engine than your mod. (Memory? Not sure. Does the flamethrower take up a lot of memory?)

i have no idea...lol i don't know how to check that

problem is i'm not playing for a long time, i only play for like a minute when the glowing stuff starts to disappear

the real question is...if i put this map online, will the same thing happen?

This kind of thing also happens if you play online a bunch, during certain times. The grenades and rockets no longer glow, but you can see the actual grenade/rocket itself.

Games running our of memory to display effects. Not sure if incresing the memory pools for effects will help, I've never tried. Just use less memory intensive effects.

Interesting, but a thing I've always wondered about:
Are there actually a way to see how much memory the effects fills? :)

I *think* the command is the same as it was in the SWBF1 Modtools exe. Run SWBF2_modtools.exe and see if you can input the mem command.

would getting a better graphics card with a bigger memory capacity help?

Nah, something like that is an in-game limit. If you can run SWBF2 on normal maps without any issues then it's an issue with the engine itself. Trees for some reason count as FX, so if your map has a lot of trees that can be the issue. Any sprites (2 dimensional) add to that count.
