Ok so recently whenever I put a new map/mod into my addon folder in bf2 it ctds before loading the profiles. This has happened before and its been an addme error with my mod, but when I take out the newly downloaded map/mod bf2 works great. The only thing I can think that I did recently was open an addme with word pad and set that as the default program to open them, I even made the unknown file type for programs. Any ideas?

Clear all your mod maps out, moving them to the desktop. Put one it, test it, rinse and repeat. It's likely still one particular mod map if you only get that when they're installed. If that doesn't work, uninstall and then reinstall to a different directory.

I have done that and learned any mods/maps I dled before I changed what opened addmes works fine. Any new maps I have tried to dl have crashed bf2 such as forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=27677 forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=27273 and forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=26372 Which are all maps no one else has had addme problems with.

That's really weird that a file association would cause a crash, though. Have you changed anything inside the addme? Because that *would* cause them to crash as it's not standard text.

No I set it so windows wouldn't associate the script filetype with any program so I can't open them anymore.

I feel really dumb asking this, but you're not at the 500 mission limit, are you? Because that is(/can be?) the classic symptom of having too many missions in your addon folder. The 1.3 patch is supposed to give you a warning instead, I think, but I've had the crash happen instead, might depend on the OS, the way the patch is installed, the particular computer, etc, I don't know.

No I don't think its the mission limit because I had the dark times installed then I tried moving it to a different folder then putting the new map in my addon but it still crashed.

EDIT I solved this! I had to change the security ownership from the administrative user to my user.
