How to create models in XSI and other 3D applications and make them work in Battlefront 1 & 2. Post models, tips for application usage and share anything XSI, 3DMax, SketchUp, etc.
I got the bdroid mesh via bconstructor -> milkshape -> XSI
Like most people know bconstructor spits out funky models... so I cleaned it up enough to use as a base to model another bdroid I'm modelling after it.
it spits out funky models cause alot of original XSI data is lost when a model is compiled to msh format, thats why decompiling a msh file is impossible. also because of the names and how ms3d can only make a name with a limited amount of characters, the original mesh and the lowrez have name conflictions and merge so thats why you have 2 meshes instead of 1. are you gonna change the mesh though or are you just kinda reskinning it in XSI?
EDIT: oh and when texturing a model in XSI switch the camera/user view to textured decal so that it renders the model as if it were in a game engine and not have any shaders applied to it.

I think the normal droids have the comlink/antenna, while the security and command droids dont have any. Well, I'm no so sure, so let's nag OOM about it
The person who does texture it only needs 1 model ( the one with the backpack and antenna) . So that once they texture it all they need to do it delete the backpack and re-use this model for the other ,backpack-less, droid .
This must be done before being enveloped/animated.
yeah what formats can you export to casue i have the skeleton but you shouldnt mess with the UVs at all cause youll mess them up if you do, just go into the explorer and hit M and delete all the materials then hit 3 to go into the render panel and do get>texture>image and choose yes and click on new>new file from source and browse for the battledroid texture. gimme the model and i can do all this for you but ONLY if you didnt do anything to the UVs cause if you chose a new projection you mightve reset them...
Off-topic :OOM', if I were you, I would upload the concerned dotXSI model through a "dedicated" web-site (Such as YouSendIt, SaveFile, Badongo or many similar ones accessible thanks to Google) before sending the proper link to minilogo' using GameToast's Private Messaging System...
If you are making the droid that is on your picture then i am missing two thing 1. the small antenna on his head 2. the kinda horns hangong down on the back of his head.
