Direct Connection Question

What is direct connection. is it where you have two computers hooked up or is it across the internet?

what is it pertaining to because it can mean both plus several other things. It is a term used loosely.

like for playing multiplayer games. Does it require an internet connection

AAAhhh.. Shouldn't. What that means is computer to computer. This is usually achieved by serial-to-serial connection (rarely used), usb-to-usb (probably not implemented or supported by the game in question), or network card-to-network card via loopback cable or hub. (most and likely.) If I remember correctly, it is the same as LAN play. Basically, no net is needed for this jump. :)

Surely you mean most people use the "internet" setting on multiplayer, I'm fairly sure it's the most commonly used. I think sawyerdk9 is wondering what he should select to play multiplayer games. I get the impression he's not got a LAN or a peer to peer connection so his best (and from what I can tell most widely used) bet is to select "internet" if he wants to start playing online. If that's the case sawyerdk9 you'll also be asked to setup a gamespy account, no big deal there, just follow the steps :)

yeah I play on gamespy sometimes, but I didnt know what LAN was so I guess I do now
