UVs Slightly Asymmetrical [Solved]

Post by jedimoose32 »

Hi everyone.

My UVS for the character model I'm working on are split down the middle and each side is nicely matched on top of the other side - however in the character's face I'm seeing some slight distortion on one side. Here's a picture (the texture is an early WIP, forgive the rough appearance).

Any idea what the problem might be?

Your mesh isn't symmetrical? (If that's the case: delete one half, select the other half, Edit>Poly. Mesh>Symmetrize Polygons.)

Thanks for the reply. The symmetrize polygons function is what I used when I modeled the mesh so I believe that shouldn't be the problem. Though maybe something got messed up after I symmetrized. I'll try cutting and symmetrizing again and see if that helps...

Edit: Yes, my hunch was correct. Something must have gotten warped after I symmetrized but before I mapped the UVs. Maybe should have tried re-symmetrizing before posting. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. :D
