Yeah, I need help again

You guys remember how I asked for help with water? Well, I gave up on that map, now I'm making a Mustafar map, and I need help with the texturing, I need the same one Mustafar has. The tutorial I got doesn't explain the extension for the texture. If someone could point me in the right direction, and give me the file name please. That would be great. :)

Well, a texture on the ground on Mustafar would probably be in the assets in the Mustafar directory's world folder (the same place that the .ter and .wld files are).

So would "mus1. TER" have anything to do with what I'm looking for? Forgive me but this is only my first map.

Yes, the texture would be one of the .tga's in that same folder.

Okay, I've got the texture set, thanks. :)

But now, I need to know something else, when I make a change in zero editor and save, nothing happens to my map that is in the game, how does that work? :?:

You always have to munge your map the way you did the first time AFTER you set up the name and the modes. Please read the getting started guide carefully :wink: . And if you want lava, you need a tga-editing program because the lava is on a model, so find mus_main_1.tga mus_main_2.tga and mus_main_3.tga I believe, and cut out the lava and save in another tga. Supermodders, is that right?

Okay, now sorry for the double post, but this isn't working, I need help with th munging, Here's what I do. I go to zero editor, save my map, then I go to my data_(insert folder 3 letter name here), I then go to _BUILD

And from there, I'm lost. :(

And from there, I'm lost.
i recommend that you click the "Modtools VisualMunge.exe" program and instead of munge, click clean (it will get rid of all the munged files so you can start munging anew) Then you munge again (do a regular munge or if you have a side you made specifically for the map like an edited "rep" side, munge that side)

PS: after this, everytime you edit your map in Zero editor, go to "Modtools VisualMunge.exe" and without touching anything else, just click munge

Okay thanks, that worked, now about texture, what I was trying to get for mine, was something like, in this level. Is that like a custom texture or something, or is that something I can get without his help, if it's custom, how do I make my own textures?

Also, I started playing around with scripting, the default heroes are Anakin and Darth Maul, and then I changed them to Ki-Adi-Mundi and General Greivous. And now I wonder, how can I make the Rep hero to one of the jedi from the Campain missions? :?
And then, how do I rename him?

They are in the "jed" folder in BF2_ModTools\assets\sides. if you want them in your map, on the rep side, then copy the rep folder from assets\sides and paste it into data_***\sides. munge the rep side (select it in the box across from the world box). you will get some warnings but its ok, it won't affect the game. then change the part of the g_con.LUA where you set up the sides and add a "dc:" (no quotes, of course) to the lua so it looks like this:
ReadDataFile("dc:SIDE\\rep.lvl",
not this:
ReadDataFile("SIDE\\rep.lvl",
and then copy the jedi's odf and EVERYTHING that corresponds with him into the corresponding folders of the rep side. this includes odf's, msh's, req's, msh.option, and tga's. you also need to add him in rep.req (his odf name). then munge common + rep and test!!:)

You can get the Jedi side from the assets folder. Go to assets\sides\jed to find what you need.

Okay then. If I say, wanted, jed_knight_03, then what would I have to do to get him as my hero, do I get it from the req folder, or the odf folder?

You will need to copy:

The .MSH file, the .TGA file, and their concerning option files. These can be found in the MSH folder. Also, you'll want the low resolution .MSH file and its option file.

The .ODF file from the ODF folder. That's jed_knight_03.odf.

The .REQ file from the REQ folder. That's jed_knight_03.req.

Possibly the human_doublesabre files in the MUNGED folder. They are the ZAABIN, ZAFBIN and ANIMS files. I say possibly because I'm not sure what type of lightsaber jed_knight_03 uses. I'd copy it over anyway because I know that at least one of the Jedi uses a staff lightsaber.


To find out what .MSH file to copy over, look at the Jedi's .ODF file, and to find the Jedi's .TGA file, open the .MSH file in Notepad (or any other text-editing program like UltraEdit) and look at the first few lines.
