My 360 isn't connecting to my Media PC

I've been trying to connect my 360 to my Windows Media PC in order to get music, video, etc off of it but whenever I try to add the extender it always comes up with an error while it tries to configure my Extender and I can never get passed it. Does anyone know what the deal is? I have my Windows firewall turned off but it still persists. I have a wired connection & have a Win7 operating system.
