ok.
i bought the cd, and ran through the installing.
everything seemed to work fine, the main guis loaded, i started a game, and as soon as it started loading the game, the screen went black, and it closed out.
now i did the system check, and it says it would work fine on my computer.
and ive already installed the directx, and all that other stuff.
and no matter what i do, when a game starts it closes out.
so i have all the nessicary components for it to work,
i have all the requirements meet for the game to work,
but it doesnt.
what the hell?

I think we need more information to help any. Computer specs? Operating system? Amount of RAM? These are all contributing factors that might be an issue. You may say you have all the "nessicary components" but I think we need to know if we are going to help much.

Can you run any other 3D games?
I assume your install path is this:
Try running BattlefrontII.exe from there instead of the launcher.
Windows has a program called
Windows Memory Diagnostic. If you can't find it, search for "memory" in the start menu search bar. That will tell you if its a hardware issue, or not.
If your question doesn't get solved here I would go ask us on

@commander_fett
its the whole game. the whole game doesnt work.
and as i said earlier, it meets all of the scans requirements,
so it has enough memory, the right graphics card, etc
EDIT:
@fasty
'binkw32.ddl is missing from your computer'
so i get bink32.ddl from a friend,
but i cant save it onto the disc.
Double posting is against the RULES, please EDIT your post instead -Staff

Uninstall and reinstall the game. Somehow a file didn't get installed correctly.

That raises my suspicion that you're trying to run the BattlefrontII.exe from on your game disk. In that case, you're not doing what I said.
fasty wrote:install path is this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData
Go to that path exactly. It should look something like this.

Binkw32.ddl is in your gamedata folder, and it still tells you its not there? Are you running it as administrator?

I've talked to a few people and, they told me that Direct2drive has messed up copies of swbf2. A lot of people have had trouble with their digital copies. You should contact them and they should be able to fix it. Maybe show them this thread so they know what the problem is.
You could also try using your friends disk to install the game instead.

I had a similar problem. Where does your monitor hook up to? Does it hook up to a video card or an onboard video processor?
From the SWBF2 troubleshooting doc
Integrated Video Chipsets
When your computer has an onboard video chip on the motherboard and the system only meets the minimum requirement for RAM, you may experience various problems that occur because the video chipset may use system memory for its video memory. You may experience the following issues:
• Star Wars Battlefront II may not run.
• Transitions may be slow.
• You may go to a black screen when task switching for a prolonged period of time.
• The frame rate may be slow and choppy.
• You may not be able to join Multiplayer games.
The two underlined issues best match your problem. Try seeing if your computer is hooked up to a video card. If it is, the problem might be not enough RAM (but enough to meet the minimum requirement)

also, if it crashes only when you try to play a map, you need to turn on the sound mixer.
