For all of you asking out crashes: They are most likely caused by Stager pushing the very known limits of the engine. The engine wasn't really built to handle this big of a battle and be totally stable as far as we can tell. However, the crashes seem to be specific to each machine, as I was able to run the map for close to an hour with no problems.

Also, It might help to disclose whether you have the DVD or Cd-rom version of the game. Seems to point to DVD owners having more crashes and cd-rom owners having none.
Having the cd-rom version myself..I cant make it crash no matter what I do on two seperate machines. One is an Athlon 1800 with a standard 5500Fx video card and 512 RAM...the other is a Sempron with the onbaord Nvidia 6400 with 1 gig or Ram.

I get crashes still, though not as many.
I'm running:
DVD
Pentium 4 HT 3.8GHz
Dual nVidia 7800GTX 512MB cards
2 GB Mem
I run all games fine, I run my own mods fine on some next gen projects I work on. I haven't had any crashes really on any SWBF2 user maps, other than a couple when first released - most went away when they were updated. I can't think of any map I ran recently that crashed, just this one, and it happens only now and then. I can't figure out why.
On the server I play, everyone I asked runs the DVD (also crashes). One person went and finally bought the game to play with us, and he bought the CD, and he only crashed once and hasn't any other time. He also has a somewhat older machine than us. It's odd that a DVD would be inferior (if that's the case). Every new game I play or work on uses DVD's. Maybe if they ever release a non-disk patch (which I doubt), it will it fix this if it's a DVD related issue.

Anyone that is crashing, are you crashing in instant action or multiplayer?
Is that DVD or CD?
I just played instant action with version C (that Stager sent me). I tried single player, something I rarely play. I have the DVD edition. No crashes AT all on single after 4 (EDIT 9 now) games.
I went into multi again, several crashes. It's has to be some unstability with the multiplayer, I don't think it matters if it is DVD or CD.
The person I play with who purchased the CD, doesn't crash. I just realized he only plays this in single player. The time he did play multi, he made it to about the 1000 mark for units on CIS side, before he crashed, what ever amount of time period that is, and when he crashed and didn't return. Everyone else with the DVD is crashing in multi quite a lot on my server.
I'm going to ask each of these DVD players I play with, to play instant action and let me know if they crash at all, because in that mode and with that update you sent to my email Stager, I'm doing alright in single player. It's the multi.

I'm trying different things in each session with instant action, just to test.
Playing just as a regular clone, then cis - no crashes
Hero only - no crashes
Flying the whole match (as much as I could) - did crash, when flying towards a cap ship to land.
In multi it crashes for everyone I'm playing with regardless of what they play or if it's dvd or cd it seems.. again I only have one person with the cd playing on the server, so it's hard to get accurate info. Some after a unit is selected, others halfway into the battle. It just happens. Still those DVD players can play instant action to the end.
I asked 3 people (so far) with the DVD, to play instant action - none reported any crashes to me.
Sometimes the Acklay in instant action reach the ground level and kill units around the middle cp. I have a screenshot if needed. Witnessed it a few times now. No idea how, I can't seem to lure them down, they stop at the edge of the cliff. Maybe a Yoda bot force pushed, if he can...I find it hard to believe 4-5 of them though. Quite a few loose down there on some occasions.

Thats interesting. What Ill do is when i do the polish it up this weekend..Im going to take out a few subtle side-objects that wont really be missed by the player(maybe one-less gunship at a time..one less turret) Mainly memory-intesive things only. Ill make sure it doesnt detract form the chaos.
Maybe that'll be enough to take some of the strain off.

The version before the one you emailed me, that one crashes in instant for me. The one you sent me in email, works fine in instant action, other than that unexpected crash in a gunship headed towards a cap ship. I edited my post above with more info on that and playing with different units each match.

I never get lag running the map in all high settings (with CoH/V or L2 minimized at the same time I play sometimes). Are you trying to crash it in single or multi? From all my various tests with single other than 1 time, it doesn't crash. Multi is a totally different though.Stager00 wrote:The only difference is the memorypool sizes in that. Ive done everything to try to crash at home...even raised the troop count by another 100 on my version...and added three more Gunships and one more ATTE...still no crash(but lots of lag).

I doubt it...i originally had 10 of those things without any problems...lol they just looked too jumbled up...so i cut them back.
All my testing is done multi..if you notice under "spectate" ive added some custom camera angles just to assist in watching the things play out from various points...Ill let it run without me...Ill play through with the bots...etc
But..I always play in windowed mode.....

Maybe it's something to do with near max to max players joining the server. I think it's really some multiplayer issue. I haven't seen any crashes in instant action (DVD edition) other than 1 out of 12 times. The first 9 times were fine.
I play with every setting to the highest on, everything runs perfectly smooth.

Hey check the two turrets at the middle cp. When playing CIS, I can spawn inside those turrets, either side and be stuck sometimes, other times, I can get out but I shouldn't be spawning there.. I have screens of me stuck in them, if you need to know which they are.

i dunno if this idea has already been posted but i think you should replace ep3 anakin with this one (from yavin arena v1.0), and change his blade color to green or make him wield two (blue and green, like the toys and movie to make it more AOTC like), perhaps insert some landed capitol ships, like the ones from bf1
this asajj model was converted from jedi academy, there are great models out there for jka, you guys should check 'em out, and see if u could use some of those
