Hehe, good ol' Blender. There's a simple wiki based on Blender if you go to the help option in the top-middle. It has a couple of decent tutorials, but XSI beats it hands down

. Then again, Blender
is free.

I still get less than a egg in a well about that program xD could be useful for me

make a simple weapin model is easy because you can load an image of the weapons in the background and whit ctrl+left click you can place a linked vertex around the border fo the weapon, next you can select 3 or 4 verte to make an edge and finally extrude the plane.
sry for my BAD english XD

LOL Venom xD That's a pretty common known technique

in all 3D Applications

Usually you instead just use a Plane, and another one wit hthe Front view of it

Then you can really see where to put it in the Z-axis

Jabba, in XSI it's called Subdivisions
Venom, I meant basic commands such as how to orbit around in your scene, move etc. xD not how to make a cheap model

Qdin, subdivision you make them. The smooth command makes it smooth automatically.

lol - I know what subdiviosn are xD but the tool IS called Subdivisions in XSI if you wanna smooth

at least that's my result when I use it

I don't look into tools like Smooth and alike - so there might be a tool like Mesh Smooth in Max. are you reffering to that one?

LOL. The important thing is, you both got there in the end.

JJ, I meant that it might SHOW that it's smoothed without adding as many Polygons as MeshSmooth in 3ds Studio Max does, but I'm not completely sure whether it'll actually render it right.

@Linus:
Somewhat off-topic, but where did you find a reference picture of Taris at night? All the scenes ingame were during the day.
