Any help. My maps are looking kind of empty w/o my own objects. I can make models but I dont know where to get XSI for under a few thousand dollars (commercial contracts). Does anyone know where to get it feasibly?

Mark,
You can get XSI Foundations for around $500.00 and use the export plugin that shipped with the mod tools or you can wait to see if we get a plugin for the XSI mod tools (which is freeware). We are supposedly getting a plugin for the mod tools, but we haven't been given a release date yet. You can also use Bconstructor to save simple models to .msh format (It's in the downloads section.)

I guess I will have to wait as I dont have $500 I'm willing to spend on this.

Well you could start on the models in xsi modtools that way when you save up the money or they release the plug for modtools (if you're like any normal person, second option is more realistic) then you not only know how use xsi, but have the models ready to export. A lot of us started with the modtools and a select few actually bought foundations later on. It is well worth the download to at least learn it. (after you have your models, you can dl the trial of foundations and use the plugin available to export it. have only 30 days to do it though.)

Or You could send the models to someone you know and beg them to convert them...

Ahh, the old begging technique. I would have mentioned it, but a lot of modelers are pretty busy right now so it may be a little hard to find one with time. But you might get lucky. If you go that route, be courtious and don't be impatent. They have their own projects and life to attend to, but if they say they'll help, they will.

yeah thats a REALLY good deal cause that is XSI|advanced where it has everything there is in terms of 3d modeling and production, but i think theres something to it like you have to be a teacher or an enrolled student to get that price cause regular XSI|advanced is like $3000+

That's how I obtained mine, and the government payed for it.

(elective class towards my degree. That's the only thing that is good that came from the VA system. Everything else, including medical, sux.)

Off-topic : Also,
Epena, do not forget to download the "
Documentation" intended to
Softimage|XSI Mod Tools and
freely available on
this web-page, since it contains hints and resources which are supposed to help new modellers to design their
first projects through this program...

Or You could send the models to someone you know and beg them to convert them...
Say if I were to create a model and send to to someone with XSI Foundations would I be able to get that in, then? Or would that require mass effort? ....Or not even be possible at all?

Off-topic : uttaresh, I don't think that resurrecting the actual thread was needed to post what might be called "useless" and "un-wanted" messages...
So, please avoid repeating this behavior in the future, unless you wish to face much more important troubles...
