How can I extract models from Star Wars Battlefront 2 ?

Hey, I am new to this forum so please excuse me if this question has already been answered. I am working with a guy on Steam to port the whole Star Wars Battlefront 2 cast and a bunch of the mods to Garry's Mod. I have spent hours trying to find a program to do this, but I only found the .lvl extractor. The .lvl extractor only extracts the .dds textures and compiled .lua files or .lub files. Also the .lvl extractor is over 10 years old so if there is a new program I would appreciate it if someone gave me a link.
Thanks,
spartanmark6

Why not download the modtools? They come with all the .msh and .tga files you would need in order to import the models into a 3D modeling program, from which you can export to the correct filetypes.
Import using
MeshTool.

You can't extract the models. I would use the ZETools plugin (for the free softimage mod tool) to import though, so you can import characters and vehicles. It is sticked on this forum.
EDIT: woops spelling error

I have the mod tools and all of the models that come with it. What I want to know is how to extract the models from any of the Star Wars Battlefront 2 mods. I would like to know what tool to use in the mod tools or any external source that is not spam and adware. All I want is something that can either extract or open the .lvl files so that my team can work on porting the models to Gmod. We have already ported at least one model that is on the Steam Workshop. As I said before I have the mod tools that include all of the default models for SWBF2. I just want to figure out how to port any mod maps or models that come with the mods.
Thanks,

I was operating under the assumption he doesn't have Softimage. If he does, then great, definitely use ZETools.

You don't. These items are the work of others, as a newly minted mod developer that currently only writes and thinks, it's hard work, modeling is physically physically hard, texturing even more so. You cannot take items that you have no right to, these models, textures, lua scripts, are owned by their authors, if you want to use them, seek their permission, limit to yourself to OSP mods, or check out the released assets pack for free and OSP items you can port.
But as for pyricy on the high mediafires, no, you can't do that.

Okay, no big deal I can contact the original creators of the mods and ask their permission. I have one question though, what if I cannot contact the author either because they stopped making mods or went off the SWBF2 modding forums or are otherwise un-contactable?

Maybe check with an admin before you do this, but I believe the commonly accepted policy around here is that you are free to use the content if you've tried all forms of communication to reach the author and they don't respond within a month. I could be wrong.

Two I think, but er, if there is any specific statement in the readme of don't use this without permission, this over-rides it.

I believe the rule overrides the readme actually. Unless that's what you meant... Your comment was a little ambiguous.

I thought the read me "don't use this without my express permission", over rode gametoasts rules?

Maybe. I think it's commonly accepted that, if you can't be reached within a reasonable length of time, your assets are up for grabs. I'm not the authority on this, I just remember reading something to the same effect by Teancum or Mav. I'll try and find it later.

Oh, if it helps I have the SWBF2 SDK Mod Tools, 3D Object Converter and Blender. So the only other program that I would have to get is Softimage and the ZETools plugin?

It's sort've arbitrary in this case, because there's no real way to extract models from compiled .lvl files. You'll either get in contact with the mod author and he'll share his work, or you won't get in contact and you won't be able to get the assets. Easy peasy. Other stuff is generally straightforward - if you can't get permission from someone, it's simply not polite to use his stuff - we can't hold you accountable to what you do with it in GMod anyway.

Okay, so basically I am allowed to use any models that I find on this site or others that the author officially releases. I will credit the original creators of the models that I port to GMOD and if they have a Steam account I would add anyone that contributed to the models that I ported. So thanks for all your help guys.
