SWBF3 Assets SWBF2 ready

These models have all been released here: http://www.gametoast.com/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=31412
I made them ready to use in SWBFII

Since SWBFIII has other skeleton proportion than SWBFII all units have their own skeleton file. Make sure that you included it correctly.
If the elbow looks like the left picture, you made something wrong (with the skeleton). It used to look like the right picture.

Stormtrooper
The model includes the original normal and specular map (specular is in the alpha from the normal map).
An shadow and lowrez volume are included in the msh.

SWBFIII Stormtrooper for SWBFII

How to use:
Make sure you have all files copieed to your project:
msh:
imp_bf3_stormtrooper.msh
imp_bf3_stormtrooper.msh.option
Storm_Trooper_Diff.tga
Storm_Trooper_Normal.tga
Storm_Trooper_Normal.tga.option
munged:
swbfiii.zafbin

I included basepose.msh if you need to munge custom animation sets.

In the odf add this:
SkeletonName = "swbfiii"

after
GeometryName = "imp_bf3_stormtrooper"

The msh contains an shadow and lowrez volume.

Open the Stormtrooper_bug.jpg and check whether the elbow looks like the
right picture. If it looks like the left one, you did something wrong with
the Skeleton.
Download

Clones
The msh contains an shadow volume. There are no bump/normal map, specular map or lowrez volume.
And just for ace i added the Kung Fu grip ;)
SWBFIII Clones for SWBFII

How to use:
.msh, .tga and .option -> msh folder.
.zafbin -> munged folder
.odf -> odf folder

I included basepose.msh if you need to munge custom animation sets.

In the odf add this line. You need it for every clones. They all use the same skeleton.
SkeletonName = bf3clones

after
GeometryName = "rep_bf3_unitname"

The msh contains an shadow volume. The handy are not very accurate since i made the shadow before the Kung Fu grip.
If you don't like it, feel free to change the shadow.

Open Skeleton_bug.jpg in the image folder and check whether the elbow looks like the
right picture. If it looks like the left one, you did something wrong with the Skeleton.
Is the lowrez the vanilla swbf2 trooper? :funny2: Good job, it looks like a really clean envelope. I might just have to make a new side mod for myself with these guys..

i worked on an Magmatrooper addon. But the texture looks terrible. So if you are good in textures, make a new one and send it to me, so i can finish this model.
You find everything you need at the first post

You are a SAINT! The new Stormtrooper looks so much better now , a huge improvement although I still need to figure out how to properly install these model mods.

You are in the wrong place here.

These are just assets and no mods. You cannot take this, put it in an addon folder and get the sides ingame.
You need to make a new project, add these 3d models to your custom units and munge everything to get it ingame.

Yeah I see , asked the_legend about this and he told me the same , I'll see what I can do then.

Thank you.
I moved the magma trooper to it's own thread and made this one to an SWBF3 assets SWBF2 ready thread where i release all SWBF3 assets that i converted to SWBF2.

i finished the work on the clones and added them to the first post.

The clones look pretty cool, I think. Great job!

The one thing I would change is those knees: I'd map them to the shins instead of the thighs.

I agree, even the FR devs had them weighted to the thighs for some reason. :)

Both does not look very great. I enveloped them 50:50 to thigh and calf, but the softskin does not work -.- Maybe i'll change it to 100% calf later

Apparently the rig for the clones was not very good altogether.

I wouldn't map it 50/50 - if you get the softskin to work somehow, it makes the mesh stretch and it doesn't look natural at all.

With an extra bone in the knees and some modified animations you could get it to look like this:

Those clones models look really nice :thumbs: but if I remember well, Nedarb7 is using them for his own mod...no?
