ok the size thing seems to be an issue!(somebody once said that size doesn`t matter,its what you do with it that matters!)The surface of the Death Star is made up of a floating platform,which fills about half of the map in zeroedit

while trying to make it bigger I have come across this probelm,the objects appear only as blue boxes and when placed dissapear which makes buiding a bit of a problem,however the added objects do appear in the munged map!The map size 512 x 512

even if this map is on the small size,hopefully the dogfighting will make up for it.If I can make it bigger,that would mean adding more objects which could slow the whole thing down.Is there a limit to how many objects you can have in a map?

I'm sure that more objects means more processing, but look at the shipped BOC map...There are a lot of objects, from cap ships, and frigates to all of the fighters and dome ships. I think you will be fine. And of course, just keep testing and if it ever starts to lag a little, you know you've reached the limit!

BTW: i noted awhile back u were desiding on what to use for the hole to the main reactor. What did you end up using, i cant tell?

Excuse me 110f3, but may I strongly recommend that you resize the trench and make it a lot smaller so that it not only resembles the movie closer but saves up a lot more room and make it seem more like a trench. If you look at Star Wars: A New Hope you will notice the considerable difference in size of the trenches. Yes I know that some people have NO flying skills so that may be the case of you making it so large but I was just stating my person preference and advice. Please take this into consideration. Simply make the trench more narrow and put the turrets on the floor and have towers on the sides of the trench to be more accurate according to the movie.

I'm curious to see how this model performs on the game engine. This is why I mentioned in a previous post if anyone had tried giving the terrain itself
a deathstar texture then maybe cutting or creating a trench in the terrain and adding small structures. The reason those other maps were able to support numerous object is because
they most likely contained LODs for the larger models. These screenshots look great though can't wait to see the map.

been trying some new ideas to address the size issue.First idea did not work,it crashed the game,but the second one looks like it may work!

and the trench run has been updated

I will be away for a couple of days so won`t be able to do anymore work on this map until the back end of the week

I have sent a beta version of the map to star wars battlefront files tonight.Don`t how long it will take to appear on their site but should be soon all being well.

I dont know if anyone said this already i just read the first page. About what was being discused earlier. Would it be possible to just put the space hangers right on the deathstar for the empire to spawn from? But the rebels would be fine with a coupple of command ships.
