Well the title says it all. For some reason my Star Wars Best of PC SWBF1 doesn't want me to connect to online servers. Now I know what some of you guys are thinkin', no, I did buy the game, no, I did not get banned. and no, I haven't downloaded anything for the game.

I do have the correct version, 1.2, which was installed. Also I can make a game that friends can see, though with 999 ping it wouldnt' let them join.

So, any thoughts? I read something about running a Cdkey.exe, and re-typing in the Cd Key, but I don't know the validity of that. I thought I would get some "official" oppinions first.

I'm not gonna mark you as illegal but did you give the key to one of your friends or something? when I had no idea about this I gave it to my friend and we couldn't play online together (don't mark me as illegal, I learnt from my mistakes)

3 possibilities:
Someone has the same cd key. But that only prevents you from joining into the same server.
You didnt install the game on your computer but copied it over from an external hd.
Your cd key doesnt work.

Either way you should try and launch the cdkey.exe in SWBF\Installwhatever and type your cd key there.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't allow you to even log in on multiplayer.

I and my brother played SWBF simultaneously with the same cd key sometimes(on different servers). But I might be wrong, havent played SWBF for ages.

Nope, it was installed directly fom the DVD-ROM.

EDIT: Well I did do the CDkey.exe, and it still won't let me on a multyplayer server. Even a server without anyone in it. I think it's time to go for "official" support.

I've the same problem with swbf2. maybe someone has found out this key with a keygen before you buyed this. Support contact is the only reason that has worked for me, so good luck!

That can be a problem. If somebody has legitimately bought the game but somebody else has used the same CD key by pirating the game, then that would cause a lot of problems. You need proof as well that yours is a legitimate copy of the game. It could be though that LA has stopped offering tech support SWBF1 and/or SWBF2, so do be prepared for that eventuality.

I have occasionally gotten this message when my disk has been dusty. I would suggest that you gently clean it.

Alternatively, the game can be purchased for less than $5 now.
