Guys dont worry, theres a way to play online without battlefront 2 servers. Go to youtube and search JayJayKinG3030 and look on that channel for how to play battlefront 2 online without a cd key. It uses lan servers to play already been tested and works 100%. 8)

When gamespy sold to glu (I think that is their name) they turned the master server for SWBF1 off. Essentially killing the games ability to play online except through a 3rd party vlan solution using lan.

Pretty sure that if they "pull the plug" on the SWBF2 master servers, it will be the same.

I haven't heard any noise about them shutting SWBF2 down, though. (I also don't browse gaming news sites that often, so.. yeah.)

BF2 online is still pretty active, last I checked. Why would they shut it down?

I feel like the community very rarely plays mods online. I usually see a few missing mission files that I do not poses in my addon folder but the number of those vs how many stock game modes and maps are being played is nothing in comparison. It would be a shame to lose the BF2 online play but I don't think our mod experience will be any different. Most people play the mods during single player.

Even so, I'm surprised the SWBF2 online community is still strong. At least there are other methods should dedicated server support drop.

Yes I was talking about vanilla battlefront, which despite all the mods I've tried still has the best replay value in my opinion. And elitejay, I don't know if it's that simple, just because it works now doesn't mean it will if/when game spy closes all servers...

GameRanger is independent of GameSpy, one going offline will not affect the other.
I don't see anything in that article indicating online gaming being affected by the shutdown of the website, seems like they just want to focus on fewer websites to keep resources from spreading too thin.

Oh sorry i didnt know that  ...I didn't say it did mean gamespy would close all servers, this is just speculation and a major rumor that's been flying all of YouTube and Gloomwalkers

Well i dont even have to log into gamespy once i open a server using gameranger, like i said. Simple solution to this problem IF ther servers were to go down.
