Changing The Sky

Post by Lorul1 »

As I get close to finishing my geonosis map I want to make it look as much like geonosis as possible. what I have been confused about is the getting the geonosis sky in my map.

I used the tutorial for getting maps that come with battlefront 2 so you can edit them (the one in teancums FAQ)

for some reason the sky in my map looks different than the sky in the geonosis map. I want them to match

here's my sky in zero editor

did you follow a tutorial?
Maybe, (just a guess) the lighting is different on the stock Geonosis than on your custom one.

You're missing one of the sky objects. They tend to have names like geo2_sky_stones, etc.

I followed the tutorial for editing "shipped" (or stock) maps in The FAQ / Everything You Need Thread Version 2.0

I checked to make sure that I added every thing and i think i did
I followed the tutorial so I can edit the shipped geonosis map so i don't think i missed any thing in my sky file but i can post it anyways

dose any one know what the problem is ? :?

I know that the stock maps released with the mod tools aren't as polished you could say, as the ones that you see in the game. For example, I've edited coruscant multiple times however the sky looks weird, merging with the background. Also the terrain texture of the mod tool's tatooine is not the same of the one you see in-game (besides the loadscreen). So you may have encountered one of these mod tool's map differences.

You might be able to fix it by using the geonosis sky texture (if it is the same as stock in-game) on a different skydome.

yeah Nedarb7 i know what your talking about

the original reason why I joined gametoast was because I realized that the color of the dirt on the stock geonosis map that I was editing was brown, but I wanted it to be tan like the dirt on the geonosis map that comes with starwars battlefront 2.

after I made a gametoast account and used the search feature, I found out the people who made battlefront 2 never published the finished version of there maps to BF2ModTools. Thats why the dirt to the stock geonosis map is brown, thats why there are some missing buttons and panels in the tantive iv odf's files, and now I guess that's the reason for why my sky file looks bad.

... :? well, I downloaded the starwars battlefront 1 geonosis map source files so I guess I can take the sky files out of there and add them to may map.

Nedarb7 what did you mean when you said

"using the geonosis sky texture (if it is the same as stock in-game) on a different skydome" ?
