Re: Favourite FPS/TPS series?
My favs are SWBF (obviously) and the Jedi Knight series. I happen to have a soft spot for Jedi Knight as Dark Forces was one of my first games. I've played Halo 1 before, and I will admit that the while the storyline was good, I thought the game was a bit overrated. I've also played the CoD series alot, but soon got sick of it.

Half-Life!!
EDIT: oh by the way, it should be "HL" series, not just "HL2", there's Half-Life 1, Blue Shift and Opposing Force too.

That's one of the reasons why I rarely play online games, most people are immature.PsYcH0_]-[aMsT3r wrote:Well, I personally hate SWBF2 now. It's got bad gameplay, its un-realistic and there are so many idiots online (OMG DUDE LIEK TEH SCOPING IS FOR NABS I AM TEH PR0)

The gameplay isn't that bad. Also, nobody goes for realism in games. If all games went for realism, then most games would suck. And I agree about the online part. I never play online anymore unless a GT member has a server up.PsYcH0_]-[aMsT3r wrote:Well, I personally hate SWBF2 now. Re: Favourite FPS/TPS series?
My faves are without a doubt Crysis and Halo. I agree with Hammeh that SWBF is a genuinely bad game untouched. But it's actually really good with mods IMO. Seriously, I'll almost never play vanilla. The stock maps are good though. Just the sides suck. But on-topic: I love Halo because it's got an awesome story, great graphics, fun weapons, it's challenging, people are more mature online, forge in Halo 3, etc. Crysis for a lot of the same reasons. Wish I had more RAM though, so then I could play it with graphics on medium instead of low...

[/Facepalm]. SWBF2 doesn't have proper gameplay. Take Death star. No gameplay. The only reason it's not the worst map ever is because you can spawn in different places, so it's hard for people to spawnkill and the fact there is basically no gameplay design you can ambush people well. The realism also phailed. So they both phail. Equals: Epic phail!Ping wrote:The gameplay isn't that bad.PsYcH0_]-[aMsT3r wrote:Well, I personally hate SWBF2 now. Not a great thing to say on a website which is centered around SWBF2.PsYcH0_]-[aMsT3r wrote:[/Facepalm]. SWBF2 doesn't have proper gameplay. Take Death star. No gameplay. BF2 isn't that bad, but I'd rather play other games when I can. If I ever have to be away from my computer for awhile, I bring my PS2 so I can play SWBF2.

Re: Favourite FPS/TPS series?
Wait, just wondering - how do you know what's realistic? We're talking about something that's not real, so they can make it however they like. And I wouldn't be surprised if I hadn't posted in there for almost a year, but that doesn't change my point.PsYcH0_]-[aMsT3r wrote:Meh, I haven't posted in the SWBF2 section for over 6 months.Dohnutt wrote:Not a great thing to say on a website which is centered around SWBF2.PsYcH0_]-[aMsT3r wrote:[/Facepalm]. Re: Favourite FPS/TPS series?
I guess, but I find it hard to believe that they couldn't make a laser that wouldn't kill someone without about 3 headshots, even with magical armor stuff.

Most guns DO kill people within about 3 headshots.

Re: Favourite FPS/TPS series?
Do you even realize what a "headshot" is? It's not a mystery - it's getting shot in the head. "Most" (and by most I mean "all") guns kill most of the time with a shot to the head (if you survive being shot in the head with anything more than a BB gun, consider yourself lucky). None of this "well maybe 3 or 4 and we're ok" business. Lead, arrows, lasers, rocks - whatever, if it pierces your cranium you're probably gone.
That being said, it's ludicrous to want a game like that. Every game is unreal because frankly, getting shot is a dirty business and no one should want a "simulator" of that. If you're holding out for a shooter (or especially a large-team shooter like this) to give you "reality", you're not going to get what you want anytime soon.

Re: Favourite FPS/TPS series?
I'm assuming you're saying it's ridiculous to not die in one hit from a single headshot? If you are, okay. Hammie had just said that he's annoyed by the fact that guns don't kill within 3 headshots in BFII, and I was pointing out that most of them do.
EDIT: Oh crap, I think I misread what hammie said... Sorry bout that, hehe..

Re: Favourite FPS/TPS series?
EPIC PHAIL. Many people go to games for realism. If you've ever played America's Army, there are clans out there DEDICATED to realistic gameplay. Take the insurgency mod for HL2. VERY REALISTIC. No crosshairs, no hud at all really, just strategy and shooting which takes a long time to perfect as the guns in that game are very hard to aim. CoD4 has Hardcore mode which is trying to get a more realistic edge in. If you pair that up with a clan that is about realism, you'll have a mighty good time.Ping wrote: The gameplay isn't that bad. There are some games where online is great, such as America's Army which seems to have a much more mature crowd and doesn't accuse everyone of hacking. Combat Arms on the other hand is extremely immature because almost everyone cries "haxorzzzz" if they get shot. Combat Arms btw is a very unrealistic game.
America's Army 3 is coming out in 9 days which should help bring a very realistic gameplay to the combat game table.
What about Flight Simulator X while we're on the topic? That game is a purely designed FLIGHT SIMULATOR that is designed and coded to be able to be as close to the real thing as possible.

Re: Favourite FPS/TPS series?
If you want realism then play Operation Flashpoint, Armed Assault games, old Rainbow Six games or Ghost Recon 1. Usualy most people that like arcade shooters like Quake are getting very frustrated after 5 minutes of playing that games due to the simple reason: you die mostly after one hit.
