Gaa! Help!

So I'm modding away happily, I make a change, not sure what it was, And when I load the map, BFII runs fine for a split second... then exits to windows. No fatal error or anything, just gone.

Warnings dont matter too much, but look around for errors in your log. And could you possibly give us the odf or msh file of whatever you were editing? It obviously a weapon or a character because when they spawn, you crash.

Do cannon weapons require geometry names?

Modding Tip:
If you make a accidental change, you should restore that file from its last saved version, or at least compare it to the lasted saved version before continuning.

A good way to diagnose specific units that are responsible for crashes is to turn off any bots in the global settings and then try spawning as each unit and try their weapons out till you know which ones are responsible.

Ah, slycooper is reasonalby smart. But even so, I think the weapon appearing may overall cause the crash, so right when he starts, the game will crash, just because the weapon is loaded, even though he may not be playing it.

You'll save alot of time if you don't check sound on every munge you do.

Won't that screw up the game if there is no GeometryName?
The "default" weapontype, if it could be said that there is one, is cannon. It's what's used for force powers and the like. So no, they don't require a geometryname. But that first .odf you list doesn't even have the geometryname line, which I would add in there to see if it does anything.

Your best bet when you think weapon modifications are screwing up a map is to go back to a stock weapon and slowly modify it back to what you had. If it was an .odf error it will be uncovered sooner or later.
