Gave the new-ish Star Wars Galaxies 14-day another try......

Yeah, so I don't know when they did it, but now the SWG 14-day trial actually lets you go anywhere. Last time I played it you were on this station, you go to leave and boom, it's over.

So this time they let you go anywhere. A 3gb download -anywhere. So I thought, 'Hey, why not? I've been curious for a long time now.' So I finally get it downloaded and updated, and that start me out on the SAME STATION! I spend like 2 1/2 hours working to get off the station. So I'm a little bored already. I get to Mos Eisley and I get sent on go-here-go-there errands. I finally get that done and someone asks if I want to be a Rebel, Imperial, or nuetral. I tell him I want to join the rebels and he sends me out to see some rebel pilot trainer, which by this point I'm already extremely tired of doing any piloting but I figure maybe shortly thereafter I'll get some real action. (BTW, I was on the Jedi path, didn't expect that to be a big piloting profession) So anyways, I got outside of Mos Eisley and jump in my speeder and it takes 15 MINUTES to get there.

So yeah, if you have like 15 free hours a day, this game is for you. But for me, that was majorly boring. I'll stick to Battlefront.

When the winter vacation comes I might try out the trial if I have time in the vacation.

Make sure you have like 10 hours to kill doing nothing but running back and forth.

Wow, that made me tired just to read. I've never tried the game but it is easy to see how Battlefronts almost constant action is more fun.

I also heard there was some problems because you have to be with a group of people in order fight monsters or do missions.

Viva La Battlefront!

I also think it sucks that you have to keep on paying in SWG. :P

yea the game in the beginning is a life drainer! once your setup you can play only few hours a day and make major cash or just have fun owning the noobs but yea id say 40 days or less playing swg is super snore ville!

This trial, can't you keep playing after 14 days? I mean, how would it know how long it's been? You'd think it would work like winRAR, and keep working after 40 days is up (winRAR is a 40 day trial, or you actually buy it, or free on some stuff.) It'd just give you annoying pop ups each time you start that say "you must either buy the game after 14 days, or quit playing entirely," or whatever they say, right?

I'd doubt that. This is Lucasarts we're talking about. They'll probably cancel your account after like 17 days or so if it's not paid for.

Some dudes are working on cracking the SWG system. And they've done it, but it currently only works with pre-NGE (or whatever it was called) game version, that means when you got the Ultimate Experience pack (Like I do) you'll need to delete most of the newest patches and a large part of the game to get back too the 'core' game, or Jump to Lightspeed also still works. They are hosting pre-NGE servers right now, but I didn't really test them yet. Not really planning on doing it anyway. You can't do anything, really nothing in the servers work, so its a worthless hack.

Star Wars Galaxies is not about constant action.
Star Wars Galaxies is about living in the universe you know and love.
I finally get that done and someone asks if I want to be a Rebel, Imperial, or nuetral. I tell him I want to join the rebels and he sends me out to see some rebel pilot trainer, which by this point I'm already extremely tired of doing any piloting but I figure maybe shortly thereafter I'll get some real action
Remember, SWG is about player choices. Choosing how to go about things is sometimes more important than the things themselves. You can spend a long time running back and forth- yes - and you can also use a speeder or shuttleport to travel more quckly. No MMORPG wll be fun as soon as you get in, but once you meet the right people and get going it will be an incredible experience.
I also heard there was some problems because you have to be with a group of people in order fight monsters or do missions.
For those who have not put in the total hours (Total is in all-time, not time per day), you will need a group. However, as you advance, it will become easier.
Joining rebels SHOULD be boring
Join the Empire!
Indeed.
