Money?
IS there some way of creating money in swbf2 or something like it. Im making a legend of Zelda map and I started thinking about gems. Could u script something saying like if u have collected 200 coins then remove box at ..... store and if you dont have.... coins place box at .... store. Then to buy the item u make a character have that item and set him up as another class but set points to like 10000 then u make a unit that looks like the object u want and make it so he can't move so when the box comes off u can kill him and get the points to unlock the guy. Or is it impossible PERIOD. Just brainstorming.

Re: Money?
Its probably possible but it would require a lot of lua scripting and writing, and unless you feel up to the challenge/effort required, i wouldn't bother with it.

Re: Money?
You could certainly code a little bit of RPG (money) elements into the game, similar things have been done before. But like Lucasfart said, it's very complex. Truthfully I'd say there are only 3-4 people in all of Gametoast that have the skills to do that.
So, technically it's probably possible, it's just that it takes an expert LUA coder.

Re: Money?
Maybe you could have the gems replace power up or something and then u give it a new name and say something like if U collect a certain amount then u can remove prop/object blabla. Think of it almost as capture the flag with out flags and u dont win if u have a certain amount.

Re: Money?
Firstly: A forum search would've found THIS
swado95, I think you have a lot of great ideas, and I think it's equally great (if not more so) that you want to do them yourself instead of just sitting in the mod/map idea thread waiting for it to happen.
Having said that, I don't know how long you've been modding but it seems to me you are trying to start out way too fast. You don't NEED to have everything in your map to make it good. Start out by making a map, and using that to learn like Zero Editor and some other things, then the second map sides, experimenting with LUA/modeling etc. You know, one thing at a time.
I have TONS of Ideas for maps, but like lots/most of your ideas they require a lot of LUA work, and so far I've found LUA extremely hard to learn. So I'm learning other things before LUA, just so I don't get too discouraged and quit modding. Trust me, you'll have enough errors to keep you busy without throwing scripting into the mix.

Re: Money?
No matter what idea's you come up with to make it easier, it'll still be extremely long and complicated. In fact, making them powerups would probably make it harder.swado95 wrote:Maybe you could have the gems replace power up or something and then u give it a new name and say something like if U collect a certain amount then u can remove prop/object blabla. Re: Money?
Ok well my MAP is going to be huge since its basically going to be all of the world. Once i get an alpha or maybe beta ill come back to this. I got a nice jump start because Nintendo posted all the character models for twilight princess (dont worry im going to credit) so that saved alot of time making them. Oh real quick question is there something up that says how to make more then one side.

Re: Money?
Just know that if you make your map bigger than 512x512 you'll have issues with multiplayer (lag and crashes) and lots of folks with older machines will have problems with single player.swado95 wrote:Ok well my MAP is going to be huge since its basically going to be all of the world. Re: Money?
AFAIK, Nintendo has never released anything - be it models, codes, etc. - from the games they've released. Either you've been duped, or you're trying to fool us.DarthD.U.C.K. wrote:NINTENDO released them?swado95 wrote: I got a nice jump start because Nintendo posted all the character models for twilight princess (dont worry im going to credit) so that saved alot of time making them.

In other words, no Nintendo characters.Gametoast Copyright Rules wrote:Commercial Games (non-Star Wars)

If you want to make the model/map/texture/sound yourself and put it Battlefront that's fine. Don't take commercial assets from non Star Wars games. Let's just leave that hornet's nest alone. Little bitty stuff here and there (a few sounds, part of a few textures) we will overlook. More than that might raise a red flag.

Re: Money?
A "powerup" I don't think would be that hard to script. Just make the actual "power up" a flag, and then on the picking up of the flag, increase you max health, or weapon damage. It could even be set on a timer, so that when the timer runs out, everything goes back to normal.
It's pretty similar to how ammo pickups and such work, I think. It could probably even be molded into something like a weapons pickup concept.
However, like the other members have pointed out, if you are relatively new to modding, I would suggest keeping it simple. E.G. seeing what you can come up with stock props, adding eviroment effects, stuff that you know how to do on your own.

Re: Money?
No im want to make it so when a guy dies he leaves a gem. Then you can pick them up like a flag sortof and once you have enough u can go to a store and unlock new armor or something. Not when i pick up a flag it heals me.

Re: Money?
Those aren't publicly released. Someone ripped them from the game and released them for "free". Besides, you realize you'd have to re-animate all of those models anew, right?swado95 wrote:LinkWell to be on the safe side ill use them as references.Hidden/Spoiler:

Re: Money?
ok, i have a simpler idea for an rpg type map, you could make the msh and the tga files of the rupees, then you could make a dispenser dispense said rupees and have tham restor ammo or something, then you could make other items for store owners to dispense in return for a certain ammount of said rupees. and you could place the rupees al around the ma like you can place the ammo (not the droids just plain ammo in the common odf's) and have them replenish rupees.

Even better idea: try making simple stuff first, and this coming from a non-modder.

But seriously, I can't believe that had to come from someone who deoesn't even mod... I lack motivation to bother.
