Zero Editor Will not open in Vista

I have not messed with anything in the mod tools folder that i shouldn't have (i don't think), I have done everything to make a map up to the point of actually using Zero Editor, and yet whenever I try to open it my computer says it stopped working, and sends a 'program is not working properly and must close' message (and then closes, obviously

). Is there something else I have to do first, is it a glitch, or what?
EDITED by -_-: Already told you once in another thread to not post in colours.

Don't type in a color please, it's hard to read. Use the colors just for accenting stuff.
1-Are you using Vista?
2-What kind of graphics card do you have?

I am not using vista, i'm using a gateway (vista IS a kind if computer, right?) and I don't know what kind of graphics card i have, ill check. Is the graphics card INSIDE my computer, or is it in an external port?

Yes, your graphics card is an internal device; it is what your monitor is connected to. The question is, is Windows Vista your computer's operating system? Gateway is a brand, I think.

I looked around on my (well, it's the family's) computer, and it turns out it's a vista, and the graphics card is 'intel graphics media accelerator X3000'. That IS the graphics card, right?

That's an on-board chip, but that's what your PC uses for graphics. Basically you're outta luck unless you use
3dAnalyze. I don't know what settings you'll need to use it, but I'm sure someone here does.

Every time I open swbf2, it sends a message around the lines of 'tnl not missing' but it works anyway. would not having a tnl have anything to do with zero editor not working?

Yep, thus the need for 3D Analyze

Ive run zero editor with 3D analyze and selected force sw tnl (i think it was that) AND IT OPENED! But....is the majority of the map besides the buttons and the triangle thing SUPPOSED to be gray?

You need to click on LOAD, then browse to C:\data_***\Worlds\***\world1 then choose to open ***.wld.

Be sure to read Getting_started.doc and ZeroEdit_guide.doc in the documentation. They're a little much to take in at first, but just be sure to read through the whole thing and play with the tools as you go. Good luck and let use know if you have questions.

What do i use to open lua, odf, msh, etc. files?

lua and odf are opened in notepad, and msh files can't exactly be opened
You really wont need to be opening msh files unless you are modeling

ODFs really are best opened in Notepad, unless you prefer a third party editor like Notepad++ (many do). Most other files open in Notepad too (such as .req) if you don't know, try it; as long as you don't change the file, it can't hurt it.
Lua can be opened in Notepad, but if you are doing some major work on them, it would probably be best to get a Lua editor (it colors certian text and whatnot).
.msh files can be opened and then with a hex editor. It is useful for most to open them for finding out what skins go to the model, though some have the skills to hex-edit certain items to effect the appearance of the model in game (mostly through add-ons).
.tga files for the skins open with an image editing program such as GIMP or Photoshop, it's best not to use Paint in most cases.
In terms of finding these programs, many appear in the FAQ thread, and had you searched this topic, you would have found these questions have been answered many times before. For any question you have, it's best to check the search first.

This is probably my first post here in about a year or so, heh. Don't know if anyone will remember me.
I thought that Zeroeditor wouldn't work with Vista (it was the entire reason I quit modding SWBFII).
Has a workaround been found?
