Well I've decided to try out Linux and Zerted said that I could download a 'Linux Live disk' that can boot and run off a CD. Where might I find one? :)

Ubuntu seems to be the best Linux distro to start out with. You can download the Ubuntu Live cd here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD
LiveCD is a special version of Ubuntu (or Linux in general) that is built to run only off the CD without needing to be installed. This makes a great tool to test hardware, do system recovery or show new people Ubuntu.

Ubuntu is the best OS ever. I use it, it's awesome. 100% free, tons of features, updates every program you have by itself, 99% of viruses don't affect it, never crashes, and you can download anything imaginable for it - even give it Vista (cough-Mac OS ripoff-cough) features. I could go on for hours. It's really cool. Here's a pic of my (heavily customized) desktop:
