I finally found a use for that Inked God font.

Call me emo, but a friend of mine got a virus on his computer, and it's taking a long time to get fixed.

I can't do any modding while I'm away at school since I use a MacBook, but I downloaded Terragen so I could get some practice making new skies. Here's the result of my first try:

It would need some editing in GIMP to make sure the seams match up and I'm pretty sure it has the wrong dimensions for use on most skydomes, but it was good practice and I'm happy with the general appearance.

The dimensions of most stock skies are 1024 by 256.
The sky looks pretty nice, btw.

Yeah, lovely sky :D
Just a question, which version of Terragen are you using, and where did you get the tutorials? The whole thing completely baffled me

I'm using the original Terragen. I tried Terragen 2, but it's interface seemed a bit more complicated and it's rendering times were slower, at least for the terrain (not that there's any real use for terrain if all you're doing is making skydomes). I'm figuring everything out mostly through trial and error - make a change to one value, check it out in 3D preview mode, make another change to something else, check it out again - it's not a terribly confusing program once you play around with it a bit.

Okay, good, I think I'm making them the right size then. That's what I thought, but I don't have access to any modding assets so I couldn't double-check. For some reason my sky just didn't look the same size as the stock skies.

Nice work, Eggman. I downloaded Terragen last week or so but I couldn't make heads or tails of it.

Same story as before - they'd need to be edited to be seamless before I put them in-game, but the basic idea is there. My thought process with the last one is that a small sun flare would be positioned over the sun in the texture. I've never really liked the way the sun flare effects in BF2 work - all the different layers of halos just don't look natural to me. I figured I could put the small sun flare in the center to give the brightness/bloom, and the texture would make it appear as though the sun actually had an effect on the sky.

@Egg: Terragen skies are generally easy to make seamless in GIMP using heal/clone tools. Most of mine were pretty close to seamless anyway, yours look the same.

Anyway very nice work. :)

Most skydome meshes use a double wraparound (even with a 1024*256 texture). If you have one sun in your texture, you will have two in your dome.

Good to know - that's what experimenting is for. :)
