How come I just saw this WIP ? This map is looking pretty cool! Is it actually underwater?

you can still change the textures even though theyve been exported, the textures dont change wheather the model has been exported or not.

Hey glacticmarine, don't the scuba troopers have those jet trooper guns and the clone trooper guns?

AWESOME.
If you haven't already, I suggest you increase the jump height to something fairly high. (as well as slowing it all down) Like Tean said, the Quarren's tentacles need to be overall just plain larger. I would be nice if you could also add more definition to his chest.
Try also adding bubbles coming out of the deep, like what Astute did on Manaan.
Really looking forward to this.

@Minilogoguy18: Yes, I know that. Let me clarify: I tried adding more detail to the skins, and saw how it looked in XSI. Unfortunately, due to the way I mapped it, it looks weird on the model.
@Teancum: Easily done. I will make the Quarren toungues longer
@RC-1290: Nahh..the air's gonna be in the suit
@Epena: How do I slow down the jump?? I looked in com_inf_default, but I only found out how to control the jump distance. That's why I actually set jump height to zero. Btw, I had contacted Astute before posting this WIP, and he gave me tons of tips for water. However, I had really already accomplished most of them through other means. The bubbles aren't present in my map, however, there are floating 'water particles' that work just fine.

@Epena: The bubble effect was copied over from the floating particle effect in the space maps. You know when you are flying and you see all those little tiny particles fly past you? That's what he used

Well, he gave me tips from his Kamino: Serene Map, in which he slowed down the rain on kamino....

Nice! I am looking forward to this map, and I like the idea of fighting as or against the quarren. The scuba skins look cool as well.

If you want a modable Kit Fisto just use this method that I made up. This requires the conversion pack so if you don't want your map to rely on it don't bother reading any further. So here's what you have to do:
1. Create a new ODF and corresponding REQ.
2. Put this line first on the ODF has this line at the start
Code: Select all
[GameObjectClass]
ClassParent = "rep_hero_fisto"
This will call on Kit and now you can just put all the stuff you want to edit (e.g. speed, weapons..)in this odf and it will override anything in the previous classes.
2. LUA time! Go into the LUA and put
Code: Select all
ReadDataFile("SIDE\\heroes.lvl",
"rep_hero_fisto")
at the bottom of the ReadDataFile section
3. Put the line for your new side that you made in step 1. right after the above line.
4. Now, set the Republic hero to the new REQ name Now, you should be set.

Well, I really don't want to have to rely on the conversion pack, and seeing as my model is already being set up by Qdin, I might as well just continue with this, but thanks for the info!
@Epena: Fine....I'll make 'em bigger...oh, wait, they have 3 fingers?? Just noticed that!

By the way, guys, I'm still kind of unsure as to what weapons the scuba troopers should have. Currently, it has a rocket launcher and guided missile, but if you have any other ideas, just post!
