Are you kidding? I don't think there's any way you could get a whip into BF2. Its just too much for the game.

Well, picking up weapons used to be too much for the game........

No, it would follow the same rules as Aayla's tentacles or cloth.

Except weapons can't have cloth.

Still, a weapon with moving parts isn't impssible.

As far as I know, it is, but I'm not the expert here.

You could attach it to a hand bone, so it might as well fool the audience. A blade moves with the arm doesn't it.

As for the blade damage, making the blade whirl around is impossible, I believe just having a straight blade would fool the audience enough(and its advantageous for balance issues)

Fellas, there was a point here at which we were on topic, but now we are not. If I want to try to do something I will figure out a way to make it happen. If I do not want to try something then it will not happen. Easy peasy. So map discussion only, please.

Like the look...from the previous screens it didn't look too great (visually) but the new screens definitely show of an impressive environment and atmosphere. Like the faint green tone (almost) everything has too.

There are a lot of ways to spin screenshots to make a map look better than it really is (or the inverse), all it takes is turning the graphics up and taking dynamic shots. Since it's just a work in progress right now, I wasn't concerned (especially with really early screenshots - the earlier two shots only had maybe three or four new models) with impressing people a whole lot, but I did want to showcase progress vis a vis number of things placed, etc. Pretty pictures can wait for the release. I did shoot some close-ups here, but that's mostly to show some of my textures, some new smaller models ("dropped weapon" models, DX-9 interior), and the re-rigged Vace model (I did some touchups like adding a working shadowvolume, better alignment of the headset, and fixes around the eyes).
Fierfek wrote:And a question - who is Vace Thermill modeled after? He isn't a Star Wars character, is he?
He's just a character, in the metaphorical sense of the term he isn't really "modeled" after anyone - he's just a Rebel pilot and spy. Literally speaking he uses a converted Han Solo model (although there are obvious differences; I removed the belt & holster and added the headset) made by Major Clod (http://jediknight3.filefront.com/file/Han_Solo;7779).

I have been waiting for this map. This would be one of the best maps ever!

I've gotten a lot done since the last time I updated. In addition to filling out the outside a little more, I've done probably about half of the campaign and built a decent amount of the interior as well. Since blocks of code do not, unfortunately, make very pretty screenshots, pictures of some (not all, can't spoil parts of the story) of what I've built will have to suffice:

There's a reason it's called "Rogue Assault." Extra credit awarded to anyone who can name these three pilots (and none of them are Luke).

As mentioned above, at some point you will have to infiltrate the interior of the Imperial base.

Because it just wouldn't be fun without RPG/platformer-type puzzles blocking your way, there will be a couple despite this map being mostly focused on shooting things.

Playing as Vace in this map is different from playing as Vace in Aquilaris or The Big "L." In here, he doesn't have a lot of health (and health can't be replenished), but he does have a shield to act as armor. In addition to dropping weapons, enemies will also drop power cells, which can be used to replenish your shield. If you pick up enough power cells, your shield will be upgraded (and upgraded... etc. - this is analogous to "leveling up").

As he moves through the depths of the base, the enemies will become more powerful, but they'll also drop better powerups/weapons.

I think one of those pilots is Wedge Antilles.

F.L.T.R.: Ace Azzameen, Wedge Antilles and Wes Janson?

Looking good BTW

Edit: Probably not Ace, can't tell who though, looks like the standard helmet

Nice screens, and good job on the base.

My guess for the pilots are: Wes Janson, Wedge Antillies, and Derek "Hobbie" Klivian.

That's their helmets, all right.

Well done Mav, that weapon drop system is particularly interesting.

Anyhoo, the map's looking excellent! (as usual)
