Okay, well, first of all, I'm pretty sure these questions have been asked COUNTLESS times on GT, but Search didn't bring up a lot of relevant stuff. Therefore, I'm just going to ask these questions myself.
- Does BF2 work alright for Windows 7?
- Does Win 7 hinder anything related to modding for BF2?
- Does Steam hinder anything related to modding/mods for BF2? And if so, how do I get around it?
Thanks.

I'll answer in the order you asked:
-yes, it has problems on some computers, but it usually works, and if it don't:
dissable the sound
or
enable the "stereo mix"
-nope, well...it can, but I know some people that uses win7, and they can mod as much as they want + download mods/maps
-I saw a thread asking for that, but I couldn't find it now, sry

Steam doesn't hinder anything, but you might have problems with ZeroEditor on a Win7 computer. It's really a shot in the dark, and noone has a definite fix, but there's a topic in the tech advice forum about it if you want to check it out.

MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit user right here. It works more than fine on mine. (Meaning I can turn all the graphics options all the way up without lag.) Ask any other Win 7 questions you want to. i'll answer them.

Re: Windows 7, Steam, and BF2
As a reminder, make sure you download the current DirectX 9.0c redistributable package, since 7 doesn't have all of the libraries out of the box, which does cause display problems ingame in my experience. (I'm starting to wonder if this is also a factor for the ZE issues with Vista/7, though I can't prove anything at this point.) 7 is similar to Vista, so you may also need the Vista munge fix. 7 also has tighter security, so make sure you have full control of the SWBF2 folder to ensure it allows VM to write to files there. I vaguely recall having to make myself the "owner" (under the advanced security settings) of that directory. Other than that, it should work fine.

Yes, you must have admin access. In the all you need thread in the modding forum it does mention some things about windows 7; some computers that are running windows 7 seem to put the munged folder into a different location but mine doesn't. So you may just want to go ahead and get the munge fix MercuryNoodles mentioned but you will want to try everything out before actually running it.
