I would be happy to make some short map previews to go in the little box on instant action but do not how to munge them on to the map level. If I make the previews using Fraps could someone munge them?

The v1.3 patch has a guide in its doc folder and the Custom Movie Research topic here at GameToast has the same information (the v1.3 doc may be a bit cleaner).

Making a map play a certain video is just editing that map's addme.lua. Its the same as if you were going to add a new game mode or change the map's colors. In terms of munging the video into a lvl file, you don't even need the original map to do that.

i read the tutorial again but still don't really understand. (I have never done any modding)

If you follow it step by step than it really isn't that difficult, all beginners need to have a beginning

I guess I'll try it. Where can I download the mod tools I don't have them any more I don't think.
