Ralltiir: Swoop Circuit

Heh, I've had this one sitting, ready to be released for about half a week. Unfortunately, GT was down and then I had to take a trip. That being said, I'm excited to release to Gametoast: Ralltiir: Swoop Circuit!

---

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away....

It is the aftermath of the Jedi Civil War. Many are tired, disillusioned, and in dire need of some escape. Swoop racing has risen up to fill that void, and on no planet has its effects been more evident than Ralltiir. Ralltiir's hilly marshlands make for an ideal natural setting for swoop circuit racing, a new addition to the galactically-popular swoop racing.

---

Ralltiir: Swoop Circuit started out as a map designed primarily to showcase race mode, however it's developed into much more. I had planned on tacking on a conquest mode, but I finished with race mode quicker than I thought and just set into making conquest mode better. To that end, I replaced CW conquest with KotOR conquest, and added a miniquest to GCW conquest (which, in my [biased] opinion, is one of the prettiest conquest modes out there). Those of you that managed to slough their way through the miniquest in Abraxas Platform will find yourselves at home doing this one. This miniquest is different, though. It doesn't require anything besides the normal game (i.e. no freecam required) to finish, although it will require more of an "in-universe" knowledge. It's also a little more extensive than the Abraxas miniquest, although it's probably a little easier to find the starting point. All in all, I just think it's more fun. ;)

---

The modes are as follows:

KotOR conquest (CW Conquest): Conquest mode with KotOR sides and swoop bikes. Heroes in both this conquest and in GCW conquest are unlockables, which means that you'll get to fight the enemy heroes!

GCW conquest: Larger conquest mode (plays very well on increased reinforcement counts). Includes heavy vehicles for both sides, and of course the miniquest.

Swoop Race Mode (GCW Assault): Race mode, plays very much like Episode 1: Racer, if you're familiar with it. One racing team, and one observer team. Observer team has no interaction with the racing team, although they can watch them through an array of cameras stationed around the map. Racers have seven minutes to complete five laps.

IFT-X Race Mode (CW Assault): At the request of a beta tester, I included a race mode wherein weapons can be used. This is the IFT-X race mode. The IFT-X's are souped-up to race faster, but have standard weaponry. Work with a teammate to win!

---
Anyway, there's a pretty decent description of tips & tricks in the readme (for both race mode and for the miniquest). Be sure to read it. Any questions you have (be sure to ask if you need help with the miniquest, but please, NO SPOILERS. Thanks!) just ask in this thread. Also, feel free to post your best racetimes here too!

And finally, the download:

In a while, I'll go ahead and release the source to the race mode coding and my swoop model, so any interested mappers can make a race mode of their own! Enjoy!

looks very awesome

EDIT: Just played it conquest and it was very well done. I really like that new darth traya skin, looks acurate, and is that a new gun model for the sith too? The force powers from the jedi conclave map where cool too.
Oh, the new mine effect is cool too, very KotORish- but theres a missing texure for the effect or something because its all squareish in the middle.

Ill try the race mode tomarrow though, im tired

Where's the beef? Err... missing texture? As far as I know, it's showed up ok for everyone else.

The Darth Traya skin is Tean's and the rifle is Jabba's, as mentioned in the readme. Thanks for the compliments, though. (Did you try GCW conquest? I think it's a bit more fun + SIDEQUEST.)

that is me passing a lap with my non-existent smile on my pilot ingame :D

some racing cheats(some could be bugs):

-just to tell that these swoops can jump by pressing the jump button like a speeder bike can(oh! I bet some off you didn't know that  )

Image
-you can cut corners through hills if wanted like in this pic

Image
-some obstacles like this tree can be easily overcome by a high speed over or just by turning left like I am doing.

nice map, the start of a template of race mode clones soon to come.

That's because swoop bikes weren't designed for anything but racing, and when the military modified them for combat use they became unstable; a danger to both their rider and others. (The real reason is that I didn't design them for anything besides racing, and the laser's firing from the dummyroot.) It's better to use the swoops as really just transport from place to place, rather than as combat vehicles. Sort've like speederbikes.

And lieutenantcoda: You're supposed to be able to do that. Water slows you down a little, and when I'm racing, I use the corners of hills to give myself little jumps over parts of the water. Also, you're supposed to jump over that tree. ;) That's why there's that incline right before it.

Nice time, and remember, to everyone... look for the sidequest!

Um, yeah, about that... :P

SPOILERS - Don't read unless you're Mav or have got as far as I have! (Which is no where, by the way. :P)

I don't really understand what it's meant to be. I mean, I've had a good look around, found some rather peaceful words (and half of your username) if you get my drift, but I really have no idea what I'm supposed to do with them. You spelt one wrong, by the way, unless it's meant to be 'ueace'. ;)

Any hints as to what to do next? Have I mysteriously started halfway through the quest?

All of your maps have been absolutely outstanding, and this one is no exception. Be sure to keep it up!

Oh, I suggest you check your transcription again. I just checked again, and it's most def not "ueace," lol. And don't worry, you haven't started halfway through. In fact, you haven't really started. ;) The glyphs may come into play later on, though...
