W.I.P. Triplesaber

So two days ago, I felt the need to make a new weapon. But I couldn't think of anything, until I thought of a lightsaber. Not an ordinary lightsaber, but one with three blades emitting from one hilt. Now, this may have been done before, but I have never seen or heard of it if so.
Ignore the texture, that's the main thing that will be updated as this progresses. For now, I have two screenshots.
The first is just the regular (idle) stance; the second is during a saber throw. What do you guys think of it (other than the texture)?

...
Actually, the only gripes I have are that the bulb thing at the bottom looks weird, and the hilt itslef'd look much better if it had diagonals instead of right angles.

Looks a lot like the "forksaber" mod I've seen for KotOR. There are actually a lot of creative things that could be done with saber models if you really feel like trying.

I just searched for that on KotOR files, and you're right, they do look similar. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll make some adjustments now.
And I plan on experimenting with them (saber models); it's pretty interesting.

Like I said yesterday, AWESOME! The way it rotates during the throw really puts it over the edge of cool.

Thanks! And I took the suggestions that
Fluffy_the_ic gave me, and implemented them:
Better, worse, or not much of either? (the texture isn't final by any means)

Mucho. MuchoMuchoMuchoMuchoMuchoMuchoMuchoMuchoMuchoMucho. Mucho.
(English: Much. MuchMuchMuchMuchMuchMuchMuchMuchMuchMuch. Much. I think you'll need to others' opinions, though.

Cool idea, although design wise, the hilt is kinda clunky still. I'd move the point where the side emitters come out of further up the handle and shorten the main handle a bit. Having the sides start at the middle is not practical for actual weapon usage. It'll get in the way of a person's hands when using it as they can only grip the bottom area, which combined with three emitters at the top make it unbalanced. I'd also suggest making the sides flow into the main hilt better.
A LightTrident would be cool too, with mini blades at the top and possibly one at the bottom.

Looks neat. When I saw the topic I wasn't really thinking of a pitchfork though, and more of a Darth Maul tri saber. The texture could use some work, which I know you're said, but otherwise looks fantastic.
Can we go on witch burnings now? Or is it more of a "evil religious figure" weapon?

If I did that, I should also lengthen the middle blade, yes?
And I'm not going to get too deep into Star Wars Theory here, but
theoretically, what really determines the weight/balance of the lightsaber is how it is constructed on the interior, not the exterior. But that's just based on The Force Unleashed or Darth Bane, I don't recall which one. I'll still change it, of course, but I'm just saying.
And a LightTrident was my next idea.
Here's what the hilt looks like now, in XSI:

nice idea, you could add some dirtbrushes to the texture though (looks for his old two saber-saberhilt mode)

Ha, I made something like this ages ago, and I had no idea how to scale objects (I still don't, one of the reasons I gave up XSI :p) and it was bigger than a tank.
I really like yours much better though. I hope you keep going with this, cause its really cool.

@Silas: Or a ksporfe-saber. THAT would be awesome.
@Snork: You still have that? I'd be glad to fix it up for you.
@Mav: Haha, nice.
And finally, the on-topic one:
Challenger, I think it might look a tad bit better if you put the blades a little closer together, and maybe shortened the hilt a little, too.
