Hi This is a map thats 78% done. It takes place on a beach thats defended by whom we call for the time being: Peoples Liberation Army. The mod it self is called Star Wars: Designated Days. Not sure how many maps are in it. But this 1st map will show you what too expect from the D-Day team.

When the maps starts, you will be met with immediate fire from auto turrets defending the 1st section of the map. The auto turrets pack a punch. Your goal so be too take em out then proceed, not that its an objective. After clearing the 1st area and climbing over the beachhead, you will encounter more fire from auto turrets implacements in the bunkers at the seawall. Also the Peoples Liberation Army forces. Never the less, if your slow, they will come too the 1st area and force back to the ocean.

The 3rd part is, once up the seawall, you will be meet with tanks which i have yet too get ingame. These tanks will combat your tanks and walkers. There will also be other turrets that also pack a punch too armor. Reinforcement count goes too 2000 when setting it too 500. Thought, this battle will make that R count drain fast as if it were set too normal count.

We went towards the ww2 direction, thought tried too keep it Starwars like.

Looks very good!

Looks good but I'd advise you not to call the defenders the People's Liberation Army.
Also the lighting is a bit bland.

i agree with sky on the lighting however

it looks nice it has a vary "D-Day" atmosphere i like the dc-15 with the scope on top

Agreed. What's wrong with the Confederacy of Independant Systems?

is the battle only in the water or at hte beach?? if not have you pics of the rest??

if you had read the first post, you'd know that the map is divided into 3 parts and the sea is only the first one.

Because this is an army allied with them. The CIS will be involved, just not for the early portions. More will be explained later. But for now, we're calling it that. We were talking about it and debating about things. This army may very well have a name change - this is after all, a work in progress. We have our reasoning.

Besides, think of it as a 'Rogue French Resistance' more or less. Instead of coordinating with the "Allies" at first, there's people against the Republic. Some of them don't agree with what the PLA are doing, though. (I realize that the PLA in real life are the People's Liberation Army of China, HOWEVER, and NO China didn't have anything to do with the Normandy invasions, we know this, as said, the name is prone to change. This is just a placeholder name. And besides it's such a generic name, I think it still works all things considered. Not ALL locals of the Star Wars galaxy like their planets being invaded. To be honest, I don't think most of them like, really, either army at this point.)

As far as the lighting goes, I like it. It's the mood he was going for. And I personally think it's fine.

By the way, Ice. Would you like an ambient battle track for the map? (If this is possible for BF2.)

About the "Rogue French resistance", that's based on the idea "real world vs star wars universe" in map/mod idea thread, yes?

He's using that as an analogy.

@RSL: Yep, agree with what you said about the whole allied army not CIS thing, makes sense + got a vague idea canon stuff backs it up. Just think calling it the PLA (even as a placeholder) is pretty tactless and confusing.

True. It would be kinda confusing. I'm thinking of a different name to be honest. Have been since Ice decided to go with that.

I mean, it'd be confusing not only because as a Clone Trooper you think you're being rushed by mad Chinese men, but you're also like, "Wait, we're here to liberate them. And they're trying to liberate themselves, from us. Huh?"

Once we establish just what planet this is, I'll replace the name accordingly.

The planet WAS gonna be Dantooine, but never have I seen Dantooine so.....what's the word? Depressing? Then again, any colorful planet that has large water masses (there are oceans on Dant believe it or not) could look depressing with some stormy looking weather. I have had depressing days on Dantooine in SWG, and the fields were purple for crying out loud, but never have they looked as depressing as the mood in these pics. xD

D-Day Star Wars style....if I can get the game to work, I'll d/l this. I'm also going to agree with the above, don't name it the PLA.

Yeah. We're going to rename it. I've been thinking about renaming it since talking about it last night. It was an 'on the spot' name that just flew into the chatbox on MSN. Probably just going to call it the <insert planet name's populace here> Resistance Movement or something and simply refer to them as 'the Resistance'. It's common, but get's the job done.

Side-note about the disclaimer: My respects to your grand-uncle who served his country. I know I'm American, but that doesn't change anything.
