As the title clearly says, I need to know what a terrain cutter is. I sort of understand what it does, as it is used in the hoth map, but I have no idea where it is located, how to use it, etc. If it helps, I need to use one to make tunnels on my new map.

Any help would be appreciated.

fragme! released 3 very useful ones. check the released assets thread. basically they cut a hole in the terrain (something u cant do normally with height editor)

But wait, one problem. I realize that it can be made using XSI, but does that mean that it is an object and is put into zeroeditor like an object, or is it something completely different?

Just like it. It should show up as a purple wireframe once you place it. It was invisible for me until I placed it though.

^ ya that's a little quirk not sure why but it does show up so it can be fine tuned

Alright I need help again. I don't understand how to get the terrain cutter into, say a hill side, to make it become part of a tunnel. I understand how to put it into zeroeditor, because I have done that, but I just don't understand where I am supposed to place it in order for it to help make a tunnel.

You will need to use some tunnels from the assets to do that

Any where the purple wires touch, they will cut through the ground.

If it's in the air, it does nothing, stick it partly into a hill, so long terrain.

Think he means how to rotate the object so it does the job.. Probably hold X and drag the mouse while holding left, right or middle mouse button.

That is sort of what i mean MetalcoreRancor, what I really am trying to to ask i guess is, do u have to have like, 10 terrain cutters lined up in a nice little row in order for it look like a tunnel, or is it something else?

The terraincutters won't make a tunnel, they'll just erase any terrain they come into contact with. They don't even show ingame. I think if you poke around the released assets thread you could find some tunnels though.

Stop thinking of terrain like you think of "real" terrain. In this game, terrain is just a flat surface. Once you're under it, it's not there anymore. All you need to do is use one terrain cutter for every time you want to "enter" the terrain - you don't have to line a bunch up to make a tunnel.

Maveritchell, I am still a bit confused. Once you enter the terrain with a terrain cutter, does that mean the entire, say mountainside, is completely hollowed out? If that is so, how do you make it so that only a bit is hollowed out?

tsurugi13, I tried it, and I couldn't find any tunnels.

To see what a terrain cutter does do this
Make a hill in the terrain in ZE, then place one of the terrain cutters so it is halfway through the side of the hill
Munge, go in game to the hill where you put the hole. Walk through the hole, fall to you demise, repeat until it is
no longer fun.

That is what a terraincutter does.
Now to stop falling you have to find tunnels like from hoth and put them inside the hill.

Ok, I get it now. But do u need another terrain cutter to use on the other end of the mountain?

Unless you want a one-way tunnel, yes.
