If anyone shot up your anything you'd be dead. Have you watched any of the media?

The only marking should really be wear and tear, and what myers73 was saying was that because those hang loosely and jut out from the body, they would get more beat up than most parts of the armor (which is probably true). He is forgetting the "Glamour skins" formula in his assessment, though, which goes something like:
"Cool-ness" = BA + C

Where C = 1 if clone skin, 0 if not, B = % of body covered in battle damage, and A = number of addon meshes.

It's a very simple formula, and once you begin to ignore anyone posting "by the formula" it helps make for a much more accurate popular assessment of work. :P
Ahh. My mistake then. :P

I think you've forgotten one variable, which wasn't included for now but is unavoidable, making the formula:

'Cool-ness' = D(BA + C) = DBA + DC with D being the amount of extra sharpening

Just to break up the formulaic :P posts a bit, here's an oldy. If you're familiar with Boarding Action, you've seen it before, but I never did show it off here.

Imperial Officer (black uniform)

This is, of course, a reskin of Pandemic's unused Imperial officer msh, for anyone that's been blinded by clones lately. ;) It's basically a blanket recolor using some function I've long since forgotten about, some air(or clone)brushing to remove a few key details, plus a few copy/paste operations for the belt, rank plaque, code cylinder(s), face, gloves, and boots. I have a revised version, but it's only a code cylinder correction, thus not really worth showing. I'd always wanted an officer that would more realistically be on the front lines with his troops, because the original skins for both meshes was a rank that amounted more-or-less to Major General (I consider Veers an exception), or Rear Admiral, plus I wasn't too fond of the original color when considering its use in my map.

Now, for something a little different that probably hasn't been done in a while, if ever.

Venator (Imperial, à la RotS)

I'd originally made this for Centax-2, which sits on the backburner, and you can guess the other map it's in. I know what it looks like, but I didn't blanket desaturate anything except the brim trench texture. A lot of the color changes were done with an airbrush, clone brush, or bucket fill (selected by color) in order to remove the red markings along with the Open Circle Fleet/Armada symbol. The lighter grey, if I remember correctly, comes from an accidental removal of the alpha channel from one or more textures, which I'd attempted (and failed) to fix later. Also, I'm not so sure the second pic really counts, but it's a close shot of the Venator with the ISD's detail texture instead of the MonCal one it was shipped with. I guess it's more akin to an addon, really.

I'm not the greatest at skinning, but I do have a few tricks up my sleeve that make it look like I actually know what I'm doing. Maybe I should stop being a noob, and learn how to do something more complicated. *snicker*

Are you sure you're not dead?

Hmm, IMO I'd say try to make the middle *stripe* match the rest of the venators steel as much as possible. right now it still looks a bit greyer than the rest of the ship, and in ROTS the Imps just removed the point exposing the same (dull) steel. So try lightening that part up a bit.

You may also want to keep the *blue lights* at the bridge the stock one has (imps want to borify everything, but that doesn't mean they threw away lightbulbs too :P )

Other than that, nice work  .

*finally show the origin of ur ava eh?

It's been a while, but I suppose I could try to redo it, since I've never been really happy with it. It's really a rather detailed texture that includes places for lights/glow/whatever, so this is what happens when you blanket desaturate something. When I made this, I was just like "Eh, close enough." :P

The blue lights were not changed. I mentioned that in my post. It's related to the alpha channel removal, and refused to change back once I'd reintroduced one.

Yep!

An F? I think you need to go retake algebra! D(BA + C) = 0([0 x 0] + 0) = 0(0+0) = 0(0) = 0 = Not cool? Hah!

Don't even THINK about dividing by zero! Wait, what are you doing? What are you typing in...wait...NOOOOO! *world asplodes* ....

But anyways, nice TCW Senate guard, but I agree -- it needs some chest markings...a little plain atm...imho.

Nice black uniformed Imperial, by the way, MercuryNoodles.

Nice 515th Gunner, Ice.... I like the....yellow. Perhaps you could make a red variant? I like...red... I really do like red. lol

thank you
also a LOT of skins are just select similar color, colorize to different color, then add a different number to the name and put it in past tense.

Incinerator Droid for DS. Inspired by TFU incinerator trooper, obviously (although this one has an actual incinerator not a flamethrower).
Big thanks to DEVISS-REX for attaching the boost pack. :)
