How to create models in XSI and other 3D applications and make them work in Battlefront 1 & 2. Post models, tips for application usage and share anything XSI, 3DMax, SketchUp, etc.
Well, Once again i'm having trouble with my unit model. Starting to become frustrating trying to fix my problems when there is little documentation on it. Anyway, i'm having trouble mainly with my models skeleton. First, Ingame his neck is split open, as well as his neck is all contorted. (sry for the bad pic)
Second, his pelvis exists outside his body
I've been trying for a couple days now to fix this, but the lack of knowledge about these errors is really making this cumbersome.
Oh, sorry that the pic is missleading. The pelvis is at the units feet, I jumped up and took the pic so you could see the pelvis(since it's hidden under the ground otherwise). In XSI the pelvis is in the correct place, however it's moved to 0,0,0(on the model) when ingame. I've fixed this once, but I can't remember how I did it.
not smart AT ALL, NEVER FREEZE ANY PART OF THE SKELETON OR HIERARCHY, it can really mess alot of things up, all you need to do is hide the pelvis in XSI and re-export, simple. the neck problem is cause you have unwelded edges and the vertices on the edges have different envelope weights from one another so theyre influenced differently and they get pulled away from eachother, that is why its good to have your model all 1 mesh and not have any unwelded edges/verts when rigging.
Well, I'm having a hard time finding the troublesome polys, but eventually I can fix. As for the pelvis, the render option was already unchecked, yet it still shows up ingame.
not render, move the everything but the model into a new layer in the layers panel and uncheck visibility so that it hides everything but the model, and its edges your looking for, boundary edges show up in light blue so you wanna select the ones on the neck and weld them, you should be able to select them all and weld them according to distance to one another to do them all at once.
