On the incredibly slim chance that BF3 is indeed continued, then yeah I think it'd be pretty safe to assume that those are the ones that would be used.revanshan wrote:Does that mean that the models and skins seen are the ones which are gonna be used?

Re: Battlefront III News
considering that Crytek now has everything Free Radical once had for SWBFIII, TS4, and other projects, I think it might almost be safe to say SWBF3 is indeed on its way. MIGHT. we should wait a few days before any hopes go up.

Re: Battlefront III News
The thing is, Crytek doesn't own all of Free Radical's assets for SWBFIII, only the engine, and even that's a speculation.Lord Bardar wrote:considering that Crytek now has everything Free Radical once had for SWBFIII, TS4, and other projects, I think it might almost be safe to say SWBF3 is indeed on its way. All of the Star Wars intellectual property belongs to Lucasarts, so the only way Crytek could end up developing BF3 would be if Lucasarts contracted them to make the game.

Re: Battlefront III News
Well if the contract is given to FR again, it will be because they are now under a more reliable Crytek management team.
I know LA owns all the assets and whatnot, but doesn't FR still hold the rights to the actual engine? After all, its not, in theory, Star Wars affiliated as it could be used for a completely different game.
So I would *think* that means that Crytek would now own the engine. And given the quality of Crysis, I wouldn't be surprised if Crytek got the contract to continue swbf3.
It would also save time and money from having to have another dev build a new engine to accommodate the assets and then implement it.

The Free Radical engine? I haven't heard that, and I watch and I watch the major gaming news sites like a hawk. If so that's a bummer.

Source? If so that's a shame, but Ubisoft has published a few Star Wars games before alongside Lucasarts, the handheld versions of Star Wars: Episode III the game comes to mind.revanshan wrote:Crytek had sold the engine's rights to Ubisoft.
Already posted some pages backrevanshan wrote:found out that Rebellion is rumored to be developing it, although Pandemic has supposedly been attached to the project as well.

Re: Battlefront III News
Here's the root source of that story, which mentions nothing about a sold engine

If you're talking about the CryEngine the only stories I could dig up were that Ubisoft has rights to use any adaptation of the Far Cry versions of the CryEngine.

Re: Battlefront III News
Arrgh, all these rumors and He-said-she-said-they-said stuff is kinda getting on my nerves. I wish LucasArts would just give us a yes or no that the game is still in progress. But, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. sigh...

Re: Battlefront III News
Well I'm not sure if you're trying to say that BF3 may be in the hands of Ubisoft (or at least the engine is) but if it is, then we are going to have one good game. Ever played Blazing Angels? Beautiful even on my 4-5 year old PC. Looks like something that you would see exclusively on the 360 or PS3. And it's also REALLY fun gameplay wise

Here's a good idea, don't trust a YouTube comment. Guess it's time to post this again.revanshan wrote:I just read some comments in youtube (under my vid called Battlefront 3 Gemeplay Resume) that say there are news out. I'm trying to find out.

Re: Battlefront III News
The point is that your statement directly contradicts Tean's original and is thus wrong. Any speculation here is what is said on these so-called "official websites" or at the very least based on that. Tean's point is that while you are free to speculate, no one outside LucasArts, even the admins and the "official websites," should be taken for holding the truth.

Re: Battlefront III News
Exactly -- what I'm saying is that nothing's official until Lucasarts says so. Obviously Free Radical ended up being the ones developing it, but that's all in the past, so until you hear a press release on SWBF3 directly from Lucasarts take anything you read as a rumor.

That'd happen most likely at E3.

Re: Battlefront III News
I dunno -- considering that the development of the game got shipped off elsewhere and the engine didn't go with it I'd say there's only a 50/50 chance at best.

Re: Battlefront III News
O definitely now, but if Free Radical didn't go under then most likely. I said E3 because that's when all the big videogame news is released anyways.
