If you know minecraft modding you'll know URL Shorteners are disallowed on Gametoast. Use direct links only..
Nearly every single modder uses it to host his files.
It redirects you to the downloadlink of a file after a few seconds and you get paid for you downloads, because there are some ads.
Just read it.
I'm really surprised why no modder chose this way to get a little bit money for their Mods.
You can find more info on http://URL Shorteners are disallowed on Gametoast. Use direct links only./
Why did no one choose this way?
Is there something against in the content rules of SWBFII Modding?
Why does no one use URL Shorteners are disallowed on Gametoast. Use direct links only. for his mods?

I don't think any modder here needs money for their mods and maps, since SWBF ModTools+XSI+Pandemic exporter are free.

in my opinion its just not worth the hassle for both the uploader and the downloaders. you get 0,004 dollar per download and im sure the company gets a lot more (this is just speculation but most of these businesses work that way). swbf2 is not really popular anymore and i dont think anybody here needs money so badly that he annoys downloaders with ads for 4 dollars in like a month.

It is only a little bit money, but you don't have to wait too long until you can download and the modders get a little bit money for their hard work. I think it's fair, and the only reason why no gametoast user uses it is maybe that they don't know it. View downloads on swbf files.DarthD.U.C.K. wrote:in my opinion its just not worth the hassle for both the uploader and the downloaders. you get 0,004 dollar per download and im sure the company gets a lot more (this is just speculation but most of these businesses work that way). swbf2 is not really popular anymore and i dont think anybody here needs money so badly that he annoys downloaders with ads for 4 dollars in like a month.
SBF Hypori: Greivous Attacks has been downloaded over 60000 Times.
That would be 240 $ and the modder would get paid for his work and we wouldn't have to pay for it.
Or the Star Wars Battlefront Conversion Pack (2.0) who has been downloaded over 188.000 times.
Maveritchell would have got over 752 dollars.
I think it would be useful.

Isn't there something in the EULA about non-profit mods only?

thats my point. did you take a look at the credits of the conversionpack? contless people have bene working on it for years and the one final "uploader" gets 700 dollars for it? isnt that a bit unfair towars the other contributors?Kuratius wrote:DarthD.U.C.K. wrote:Or the Star Wars Battlefront Conversion Pack (2.0) who has been downloaded over 188.000 times.
Maveritchell would have got over 752 dollars.
today nearly every mod contains assets that werent made by the author but by fellow modders, if the releaser earns money with it the contributors are deprived of their share.
modding is a hobby for fun, without the goal of earning money with it. i think turning it into a commercial thing by getting "paid" for downloads wont do the community any good.
sure nobody here would actually have to pay, and if somebody feels like he really needs these few dollars he can of course use it but in my opinion its agains the "spirit" of modding.

It is even possible to make URL Shorteners are disallowed on Gametoast. Use direct links only. to URL Shorteners are disallowed on Gametoast. Use direct links only. to URL Shorteners are disallowed on Gametoast. Use direct links only., so every creator could get paid if he wants to, but you would have to wait a minute, until you can download. And if you add a direct download too, only the ones who want to give those modders a small donation could do it.DarthD.U.C.K. wrote:thats my point. did you take a look at the credits of the conversionpack? contless people have bene working on it for years and the one final "uploader" gets 700 dollars for it? isnt that a bit unfair towars the other contributors?Kuratius wrote:DarthD.U.C.K. wrote:Or the Star Wars Battlefront Conversion Pack (2.0) who has been downloaded over 188.000 times.

Just add a little URL Shorteners are disallowed on Gametoast. Use direct links only. to URL Shorteners are disallowed on Gametoast. Use direct links only. link to every mod, (every credited modder has his own URL Shorteners are disallowed on Gametoast. Use direct links only. link), and you could choose if you would like to give those modders a small donation for their hard work. And there are still a few maps where are only one or two modders who worked on them, So it would not be that bad.

This URL Shorteners are disallowed on Gametoast. Use direct links only. thing seems to hit a bit too close to those for comfort, at least for me. Better to play it safe.BF2 Modtools license wrote:You may not:

Exactly. It's not legal to do mods for money unless the EULA says it's ok, which it doesn't.Twilight_Warrior wrote:Isn't there something in the EULA about non-profit mods only?
