Well, we really don't have much more that can be said about this unholy abomination. Honestly, reactions to this movie are fairly predictable, and if it doesn't bomb at the box office, then you know the world has come to an end.

Not to argue, but Cowboys & Aliens
is pretty original.

I actually have to agree. To be honest, there is nothing new inder the sun, and if you think about it, Aliens are one of the oldest plot devices on Earth, because from a thematic standpoint, mythological demons and the like are very much like aliens, given that they come from a distant world and come to Earth with malicious intent. It's not the concept that matters, it's the execution, something Battleship lacks, since it seems to be aping The Last Starfighter.

Cowboys and Aliens was a really good movie. Yes the title is lame, but it works. The plot was pretty decent was definitely original. I don't think I've seen this good a genre mash up since Star Wars.
The choice of aliens is usually because it's easier for the viewers to side and want the humans to win. Easier to relate.
