Though I wouldn't go so far as say its a beginners guide - I've been working on skins for this game forever and I never knew some of this (Like the top of your foot and the top of your hand??!).

ya, this is quite useful as a reference, I find myself occasionally having to do test skins and coloring everything bright colors to see what's what, this speeds up that tremendously.
(BTW, the layout is the same for the Stormtroopers)

Yeah, you should do one of these for the battle droids, I can't make heads or tails of those (literally, where's the head?).

Well from my experience, if you divide the battledroids tga into quadrants (quarters), the top left is the head and backpack, the bottom left is chest, and the other two, though I dont remember exactly, make up the arms and legs of course..

Ya, that's about it, try opening one of the colored battle droids to find the chest+head.
The MagnaGaurd is the really hard one.

But realistically it shouldnt take that long. Just color each little individual area a different color.

Then you can just take some screenshots of it ingame and use that for reference.

I'm glad everyone likes this, i have thought of doing other ones but i am not too sure about most of the droids (most of the stuff on this tutorial i only just found out), i might do some droids but only if i can figure them out, the first one would probably be an SBD.
For any one else that tries this, when i got to the bits i wasn't sure about, i still put the letters and colour on, then checked what it was like ingame. Like what PvtParts said.

Which part of the skin edits the, uh, "private" area?
Sorry, but I actually need to know, because I'm making a blackhole trooper.
The skin in the TGA looks all dark, but when I munge it, that area in-game is always white as can be.

This doesn't count as a bump, does it?
