how does a signature work? i have setted it up on my edit profile section and it still doesn't come out when i post.

is it automatically placed or is it manually placed?

As in the old site , right now and since a year or more we have no sigs on the site. Put your fancy stuff / custom things about you in your avatar.

so why is there still a signature section in the Edit Profile section of the user control panel?

probably due to one of two things.

1. Not worth the trouble to try and remove it.

2. Maybe it can't be removed.

Why were sigs removed? Were people being stupid with them?

people are stupid with almost everything we allow on the site. Sigs had been acvitated for a few months like 2-3 years ago and it made reading threads horrid. The sig area was never removed so that if we ever put it back in/on, that area will still be here/there.

Guru, The signatures are off but they can still be entered and seen in the profile?

Also it created alot of clutter and messy looking threads.

I never really thought about it until now, but signatures can get pretty annoying. Sometimes they're just simple things that can make me laugh, but lately the ones I've seen are in huge font and are only there to advertise all of the person's work. That's especaially annoying when the signature is ten times longer than the post itself.

There should be a signature height/width/character limit. That would organize things.

Yeah, no images, just text with a small-ish character limit.

There's no way to not sound like an old man on this, but why would does anyone even need a sig? We've got the avatar, location and the ability to add XFire, MSN, etc. That's plenty. Sigs are annoying and have been abused over and over here at GT. May they never come back.

Yeah, we don't need sigs. Guru's right, most of the people are would be stupid with 'em anyways...

Guru is kinda right, sigs do look stupid and they could spend lots of precious memory in the servers.

I agree. Sigs just take up extra space.

And usually you'll see people with about 10 different sigs in that area.

So...I'm glad there are no sigs.

Dont forget some of the sigs like that sig with Tom Hanks in it with the l33t stuff and the hacking stuff in the text.

Thsoe kinds of sigs as well Im sure people will have and Teany and gurua nd a long lost Levy well get very very pissed.

I've been kinda wondering about this too.

Yeah, there are tons of peeps out there who can do stupid stuff to make their sig look huge and stuff, but it's not like you can't put 'limits' on the sizes....

I personally like sigs.

I have an awesome Sig/Ava set I would like to use, it's not huge and it won't clutter up anything. Just as long as we keep it organized, we're all fine and dandy.

I personally organize mine in a neat fashion. I center my sigs as well.

I'm just saying, it would be awesome if there were. But I understand the reasoning behind not allowing them.

Yeah, a little bit 'extra' kbs, but not much...depending on the size of them... But, meh. We could just try and see if we could handle a few weeks with it? And if it gets carried away again, then we can just banish them forever. Just curious as to how cool it'd look.
