I know this the XSI forum but this has do with the same thing pretty much.
I need to know if milkshape 3D supports the whole null thing. WHen i import my XSI model into MilkShape all the nulls are gone, as you could imagine this causes problems.
Its the broken link in the chain, if i could just get milkshape to load the nulls i placed in XSI i could export my models. I dont know if MilkShape doesnt read nulls or if i didnt check something when i exported my model.
If you dont know what im talking about its the way you export things with out XSI foundation 5.0.
1. make model
2. export as "dotXSI"
3. import model in MilkShape 3D
4. export model as "MilkShape ASCII"
5. import model into BConstructor and save as "MSH"

RE: question about MilkShape
Nulls are not recognized by Mlkshape, alas. as was pointed out recently in another project you can use small primitives with the same tags you would give nulls though.

i looked back on this and tried but i can never get more then one object on my model exported into the game. I looked at the hierarchy and i think it looks right. all my parts are under a "dummyroot" (not a null).
but when ever save it as MSH with BConstructer the only object that shows up is the last one.
for example, on a recent model I made only the trigger showed up, so i had to merge the model together for all of it to show up.
its possible to get a model with sperate parts in game wit the milkshape method right?

well your not gonna get anything animated into the game with ms3d but wheather your animating it or not its best according to the docs to merge everything into 1 mesh and that they use only 1 texture, thats what i do with all my models, but i think capital ships are an exception because of thier size.
