Well, with my naboo map out there, i'm eager to see how it will do. While I was waiting though, I revisted an old project I had started as a test for making glass walls. Needless to say, it came out with this.

Image

Sry it's so dark, but it's the most convincing underwater I could get.
I'm going to continue working on it while I wait. So far i've got bubble trails, low gravity jetpacks, torpedos, and harpoon guns.

Simply amazing. You're without a doubt one of the best modders out there. You never cease to astound me.

Just finished the Mini Sub. I did experiment with making it free movement (all directions, up/down), but it made it incredibly difficult to drive. So i've made it hover lower to the ground, so it looks more like its crawling.

Heh, this looks pretty awesome. I'll keep an eye out for this one. It's quite unique... being underwater an all... I'm curious as to how it's going to turn out. What will be in the map? Like, sunken buildings, caves, etc. I think it'd be pretty cool to have like, a network of caves leading down under the ocean floor and some hidden alcoves with open air and stuff. That would be really cool. Keep up the good work, man.

Astute, might I know the mesh you've used for this sub-marine ? It looks like weirdly to a Naboo Combat Speeder... :|

Underwater. :o Map. :o Awesome. :o

The sea floor/lighting looks very realistic... this should be good!

Sorta branching off what Schizo said, it would be cool to have some sunken Republic/CIS wrecks. Considering that this is Kamino, and there has been a Clone Wars battle here... I mean, there are still planes and ships from World War II at the bottom of the Pacific (and elsewhere).

Like that, only a droid fighter or Republic gunship. ;) Anyways, just a suggestion. :)

Actually, it looks like a retextured Rebel Combat Speeder.

Hmm, this project seems to be moving fast. Both sides are done, map is pathed, and the minimap and localization is done.

Hmm, didn't think about sunken wrecks, i'll have to look into that. As for the sub, its just the combat speeder with an underwater friendly skin. I say underwater friendly because some of the skins i made look really good in that atmosphere, but generally would be pathetic looking on a regular map. I'm considering posting a video of some of the underwater combat, you just can't get the whole immersive effect from the screens.

Awesome. Hopefully we can play this map soon. It looks really cool... I've always wanted an underwater map. Though I've always thought of it taking place on Mon Calamari... eh, whatever. Kamino's a good choice too.

What eras will this be for? It looks like one of the units is a retextured scouttrooper but who knows.
This looks really good. I give you props

This is a GCW map only, partly because it would just be weird to have scuba battle droids. As for Mon Calamari, if all goes well with kamino, then i might consider doing it later.

The retextured scout trooper is suppose to represent:

Battle droids work underwater.

80% complete, sweet! I also like the sunken ship idea, old relecs of the clone wars still around in the galatic civil war. A question, when you jump, is their no gravity, or is it regular? Can you give us some information on the units? Or do you want to suprise us. Yeah, the battle droids went like about half way into the water in episdoe III.

Hmm, adding wrecks didn't work, they would merely show up as completly black with no texture, even though the texture i specified was very bright.

EDIT: Just found out about the mod tools for SWBF2, so i'm going to rush to finish this map. Expect it to be done soon.

Well... electronic units underwater does seem strange, but this droid shows otherwise (Clone SCUBA Troopers and CIS Droids had an underwater battle on Mon Calamari... in the Clone Wars Cartoon). :)

Ah! Very good resemblance! Only thing I have to say is your Seatrooper seems a little green... I say a little because the dark sea floor would give it (and the sub) that gloomy color, but the sea floor itself is a little brighter and not so green (and I think the sea floor looks more accurate, and spectacularly so! :D ). So you may want to give the Seatroopers more whitish armor, just darkened (and a little bluish-green).

Image
Although this is brighter due to the fact that it is closer to the surface (or brighter on the surface), you can see that this sub largely retains it's yellow color.

Once again, just a recommendation... you might have done the green for artistic purposes! And I still can't get over your sea floor  just amazing!

EDIT: There were like 4 new posts as I was typing this! :P Don't worry about the wrecks... at least you gave it a shot, and I am sure you're map will rock. ;) And the mod tools still have a few weeks (I think), so no need to rush.

I still think it'd be cool if you had like, a few sunken Kamino platforms here and there, some debris, etc. Or, maybe some huge support towers from the platforms up above on the surface. Anything to make the map a little more... interesting. Hiding places and stuff, you know?

Anyways, I still think this map will be cool, either way. Mind filling us in on some of the stuff that may be appearing in this map? A little backstory? Anything?

Man, if only the units could swim, rather than walking around on the seafloor... that would make this map absolutely perfect.
