well, there is an incredible amount of assets (of which most are listed in the assets links thread) and maps and mods that everyone will recommend something else. for maps though there were a few "favourite maps" threads in this section that are probably what you are looking for.

A bump is defined as posting on a topic over 30days old. As for hijacking a thread that would be more like say "hacking" I guess.
Moding in general takes a lot of getting used too and a lot of time. Once you learn things, it becomes fairly easy. Trying new things is always tricky, and we will be happy to help you out.
If your wondering about troopers and what not you could try
my clone mod(officially PvY) or anything in modding related in general
in the released maps & mod thread. Im sure you will find lots of stuff there you will enjoy.
If you want to make your own mod, you should look through
The FAQ/everything you need thread. It tell you where you can get the tools, and a lot of sutff to get you off the ground.
Oh and, welcome to gametoast!

hijacking is not hacking.
its going to a topic that someone else started with their problem or mod WIP, and then posting your problems and basically carrying on a second conversation that should have been its own separate topic.

Correct; hijacking is manual use of brute force or simple guessing-and-checking, whereas hacking involves the use of a program or script. I absolutely hate it when people say their Facebook accounts are "hacked" because more likely than not, it was actually hijacked, unless the attacker used a program such as a keylogger to steal their password.

I love the irony here.
ON-TOPIC: BadWolf, everyone has his/her own taste in mods. At Gametoast there are many mods, so just look around and choose those you like. You can also download the Map Archive, if you're looking for specific maps.

Yes. It is extremely ironic.
...
My short list.
Prerequisite for most mods.
- Unnoficial 1.3 Patch r129
Must Haves
- The Dark Times 2
- Battle Arena 2.0
Have to try at least once (or 50 times, if there is that much content...)
- Conversion Pack 2.2
- Rends' Mos Eisley Spaceport
- DMI

You should also try BFX (Battlefront Extreme) at least once.

Fixed.
I'm a fan of The Nasal Abyss'
Training Installation IC-177
It's one of the more unique ones out there.
I will also agree with
BFX, it's a very fun, very well put together era mod.
And finally, if you like movie-realistic maps like Rends' Mos Eisley Spaceport, I suggest Mav's
Death Star II: Emperor's Throne Room

Also, any TFU models/maps/mods?
and what are assests? what ive picked up is that they are models, guns that need to be put in with a map to make them work or something?

Maps:
If you go to
http://starwarsbattlefront.filefront.com/ and look for maps by YaNkFaN, a_speck_of_dust, or both of them, you'll find a lot of maps with very high unit counts in generally well-done environments. Generally straight-up battlefields, but with a lot of cover.
Raxus Prime and Pestox by Delinquent are winners in the immersive, larger than life category.
Penguin's Verena Defense: Immortal is good if it doesn't lag your computer incurably.
Hoth: Underground and Theed: Back Alleys, and Manaan: Murky Depths are good close quarters maps.
Bobfinkl's Alderaan: Lakeside is a very pretty map.
Geonosis: Freight Dock and Honoghr - Crash-Site currently win the best newest map award.
Naboo: Theed Hangar wins the movie accuracy award.
And of course there's nothing wrong with taking a look at any of my maps, or my lazer tag mod...1 shot kills, no aiming reticule...most of my mod maps either support this mod (maps I released after releasing the mod) or have it added to them when it is installed (maps I released before releasing the mod)

Agreed.
BadWolf wrote:ah that is a similar one, but i didnt want to bump his thread or highjack it with my own questions, and that one is just maps, im looking for modding in general, peoples opinions rather.
It's a similar topic because the author of that thread asked a similar question to yours. The replies to that topic are filled with suggestions on what custom mods and maps one should have for SWBF2. And these suggestions are based on the post makers' opinions and the consensus of the people who play custom SWBF2 mods and maps. Also, you can't hijack nor bump a topic that has already been locked because locked threads can't be no longer posted in. Even if you were able to hijack and bump that thread with your own questions, it would be redundant because your questions would have been already answered. The point was that you should just look through and read those replies and suggestions in that other topic, which I'm sure you can do. You'll find that a lot of those recommendations are identical to what has been posted in this very topic of yours. Futhermore, you seem to already know what kinds of mods and maps fit your tastes. So simply use the
search function here on Gametoast and on
Star Wars Battlefront [1 and 2] Files, and type in your key words to find the mods and maps that match your preferences.

EDIT: What are assests and how are they used?
