That's actually not a bad idea Gunjak, just put those hangar barricades over the hangar so no one can enter it and animate the whole thing. Why wouldn't that work?

I actually had the same idea posted in the first BOE topic. It would work, but man, that would be crazy to make in zero-edit. xwing would have to keep track of the cap ship paths, frigate paths, and all the flyer splines and make sure theres not a big, disasterous collision between any of them. But it would be pretty awsome.

Don't know if I'll do it...but I know this is true...
About the "disasterous collision" they wouldn't be disasterious. I found out already that buildings ignore collisions from other buildings.
for example...
When blockade runner moving due south at 900 kmph and victory class cruiser moving due north at 600 kmph come together to collide, they simply pass through each other.

Hey everybody, ask that question to your math teachers!
You: When will they crash?
Math Teacher: Exactly 851 million nanoseconds later.
You: Wrong! Never!

Alright, but that still doesn't work for Capital Ships, because the people and Vehicles in the ships would be effected by the collision. So essentialy you'd end up being crushed together between two ships which are somehow passing through each other. That and the problems with vehicle spawns, wall slamming, and regions mentioned by everyone else so far.

*Hassle Warning*
You coould always animate a collision, using lots of fire works to cover up disapearing msh's and adding chunks. This is theoritical zero engine stuff, not a map sugestion.
By fireworks, I mean those particle emittor things from hot etcetera that are invisible, used for blowing snow and maybe some other stuff.
Yeah, but some animated prop cap ships would be cool, as gunjak and Syth have suggested. Essentially frigates, with turrets. And maybe destructability.

I think destructable caps are already on the menue^^
Somewhere Xwingguy asks for debris-models óf the ISD and of the MonCal.
I think we should discuss the Idea of moving caps somewhere else.Maybe there'll be a moving-cap-map somewhen in the future.

I agree. I think Xwingguy should concentrate on the huge resources needed just to get the interiors of these ships completed, without any sort of crashing, and concentrate on other aspects of the map. As for a "proof of concept" about whether or not someone can get capital ships to move, it really isn't integral to this map. It may be nice, but I think this map will have more than enough other goodies in it that moving capital ships won't even cross our minds. AFTER the map is released would be the optimal time to start thinking about adding moving caps.
As it is, this map has been on his plate for 5 months - do we really want to wait another 5 months for moving caps?? Concentrate on the basics before setting your sights so high, and then try doing this in a version 2.0 (with other goodies - like an SSD or Death Star maybe

)

I dont think you should even have moving cap ships, what is the ponit moving does not do much and anyway you would need to et the source code, Lucas arts never releases it to anyone so no ponit

How would you land if it is moving?
But it would still be more realistic

Good point, atatfightr.
