1)Edit the weapon ODFs with Notepad
2)Edit the TGA files with GIMP (google it)
3)Cap ships are just objects, place them together like anything else. There's also an OBG file somewhere for assembling them
4) You MUST read the documentation (or manual, whatever) otherwise you will never survive modding. Sorry but that's the cold hard truth.

Sure, I'd be glad to help. I can't create new models, or help much with scripts, but if there's one thing I can do, it's sides. Definitely sides.

Aha, and therein lies the rub. 99% of what you learn about modding comes from reading it, in manual form. If you've got a hard time doing that, you're going to have a hard time modding. Like we've pointed you to about three times, you need to read the "Getting Started" thread. It has - surprise surprise - information on all the things you want to do. Some of them you can even be lazy and read it in posts without having to look through the big scary documentation!
But seriously, read the documentation. It spells it out pretty well, and even though it may take a while, you'll learn what you need to know. Also, before you try and do your own thing, maybe try some of the tutorials that we've got listed. You need to understand how the mechanics work before you start applying it to your own vision.

I don't really understand how anyone can like Paint more than GIMP, but to each his own, I guess...

Another program you can use is Photoshop.

Jiri, please stop doubleposting. Face already told you once. Also, unless you can convince me you're actually trying to ask something in this thread, I'm closing it.
